Cade Mays looking for an NIL deal that would pay him “third or fourth round money”.

Really, then why is the country complaining about student debt. Getting out of college debt free is a head start on the rest of the world.
If these guys had full ride academic scholarships and got famous from Instagram..... then got NIL style deals because of their fame, would you have a problem with it?

Do you think it's bad for the game? Guess what..... It's as much their game as it is yours and arguably MORE their game unless you're playing also. It's as much the wealthy folks signing the contracts with these guys as it is yours, again arguably MORE their game since they're ponying up money to support their team...... are you putting up $50k/yr/lineman?

I don't get fans who think they control the game and don't have literal skin in it nor as much money as the boosters.

NIlL will be the final downfall of college sports. Any advantage scholar athletes have now will slowly erode

Most elite athletes, and yeah.... I know exceptions, but most elite athletes are focused on Sunday, not school.

It's been an open secret that most "student athletes" were heavily managed through school to make sure they stayed eligible.

It's also laughable for people who support coaches making more than some ENTIRE ACADEMIC DEPARTMENTS now lamenting how education is harmed because athletes are getting paid.

The hypocrisy is pretty evident.

So we are going to screw the whole system for a few athelets. Most who get the NIL money will never get another dime after graduation

WE didn't screw anything, neither did the NCAA, nor the universities.

The United States court system ruled these Americans couldn't be prohibited from the same right every other student has: make money from their name, image, and likeness.

The system was screwed previously when Americans were denied the rights others had.

Ok,, let's review this in 5 years. If I'm wrong I'll admit it. Just enjoy college football while you can

I'm hoping for the transition to a developmental pro league from the most powerful "college" teams. That's the most likely outcome because when the courts rule athletes are employees and the schools are running pro teams....... you'll see schools scramble to get out of the huge and lucrative pro league they've been running.

Colleges need to be honest. They're running a multi-million dollar pro sports league without paying the players. C'mon...... is that fair?

Changing the subject doesn't negate the truth of what I wrote. Pivoting to the "who should pay" subject, the boosters who used to pay under the table and businesses which see a deal as beneficial for various reasons. I'm none of those things.

Schools which lack that type of support will find it increasingly difficult to attract and retain top players. I'm not saying it's right or wrong.

Payments have been going on in the background for many, many years. You dislike that it's in the open? You think successful teams WEREN'T paying players to come to their school?

Was college football ruined then or only now when it's in the open?

People acting like we aren’t under investigation for paying players. ‘BuT niL WiLL rUiN FoOtbAll!!!!!’

The country is complaining about student debt because students get stupid degrees that have no real world use. Then they go into the job market when they’re 22 years old and it’s the first time they’ve realized their decisions in college had consequences. Culture has told them that instead of facing the consequences of your decisions, you should just be a victim and blame others. So they complain that student debt is mistreatment and someone else should pay for their poor decisions. It is reinforced by one political party pandering to them by saying ‘vote for me and we will make your student debt disappear.’ But they won’t make it disappear because then what would they have to entice the younger vote in the next election? The other political party does the same thing with other issues.

Basing decisions off what politicians tell us is useless. They are to society what Jeremy Pruitt is to football coaching, the English language, and vegetables.
