Bye bye Butch - Purdue bound (message board rumor)

It doesn't matter how much Football is valued. Those dollars are not just used to support football only. At the end of the day the debits and credits must balance across all sports.

...Oh, give me a break. You can't be this naive. If we were talking about UT-Chatt you might have a point. But 121 million is a big chunk of change....this is what the University made after everything is paid.....all.....ALLLLLLL this goes in the DEBIT column...

...you are just arguing for the sake of arguing now...

read the article...

You do realize that Tennessee Football was valued at 121 million in 2015 by Forbes....That is #3 in FBS

#1 Texas @ 152 million
#2 Notre Dame @ 127 million
#3 Tennessee @ 121 million

...Just a side note, the high and mighty Bama was valued at 97 million.

IF the Mods say it's OK to link the article I will.

Tennessee is not going to get rid of coaches or scholarships because of money.....that is naive.

UT is a business. They are in "business" to make money and as they say..."business is a booming":clapping:

Forbes Welcome

Quote from article explains why Bama football is so successful.

And when it comes to spending what you make, there’s no better example than Alabama (No. 8, $99 million). With $97 million in revenue the team is second only to Texas. But the Crimson Tide also spent $51 million of that on football operations. That’s $11 million more than any other team spent last year — Auburn, second on the spending list, dumped $40 million into football last season — and thus ranks the Tide 10th in profitability

Where's Tennessee rank as far as "dumping" money into football?

He is staying.

So pretty much it seems Trace Armstrong shopped him around and nobody showed any interest. Let us know if you hear anything regarding assistants.

We need Blackburn hired ASAP. Butch doesn't realize it, but he needs someone like Blackburn who will stand up to him and force him to make changes. In the long run, it'll benefit Butch in the end.

It didn't break down what UT put back into football. It listed Bama and Auburn because they were considerably higher than the 29 million average for all the SEC teams. So it's somewhere between 29 million and 41 million. I think that's leaves enough left over for a little bit more for a homerun coaching hire. UT Admin just doesn't want to set a precedent for forking over high dollars for a coach. I can understand that. But, it can afford to pay off contracts if it needed to do it.

read the article...

Do you think that means there's $121,000,000 just sitting in accounts over there?

Honestly...

Well if you had read the article you would see that 74% of that was profit.....SO,

.74 x 121000000 = 89 million

Honestly....

...before you spout off about something you don't know about try educating yourself....

P.S. I saw your "atom wrangler". By chance are you a nuke or previous nuke?

There is no doubt that the football program generates "profits" but those profits support other programs besides football. The article was specific to what football generated and how that equated to the value of football to the university. The article was not implying that those schools had that money available - because they don't.

So to use more for football = spend less for other sports at UT.

A ban? Get a spine and a life.

You really support jones' pathetic attempts at coaching?

You and fans like you are the reason Tennessee is stuck with this lying, cowardly, self-serving ****heel of a "coach".

No ****ing way to reason with this ****. Hiding behind a keyboard talking **** like you know what the **** is going on is *cowardly*,*selfish*,*childish* and above all that ****ing **redneck** as ****. LMAO the Detroit in me coming out.
