Butler thinks Tennessee is scared!

I think the game against Florida this year in Gainesville was excellent preparation for what we face Sunday.

Florida couldn't miss in the first half, we went down by 15, and kept our cool to come back for the win.

Even if Butler cans a ton of threes in the first half, we have the potential to quickly cut the deficit and come storming back.

The UK game in Knoxville was good preparation for Butler. UK ran the shot clock all the way down all day. Butler will be a very frustrating opponent.

I think these Butler fans are getting a bit too confident b/c our team played like crap and their team played lights out. Everyone, including Butler fans, know that UT's "A" game would beat anything Butler throws at us.

So am I worried about Bulter? No...I'm worried about our own lack of consistency. We can go as far as this team wants to go. I truly feel we can beat anyone with everyone firing on all cylinders.

Some postives: Butler is highly unlikely to shoot the way they did against South Alabama AND Chris Lofton is highly unlikely to have as terrible a game as he had today.

Take comfort knowing this: if our guys come to play, we will win. Now let's quit panicking and go earn a berth in the Sweet 16.

Butler looked good - we looked bad but that was today. We'll see what Sunday brings.

We were all saying virtually the same thing in 2006 after narrowly escaping the 2/15 upset.

I don't necessarily think we'll lose. I'm just saying that I'm not going to write off today as an aberration, especially after our two SEC tourney games. We are clearly not playing well at the most important time of the year. At least so far.

I know... you're right. Now listen to me and read around this board for yourself. Some of you guys aren't very confident. That's all I'm trying to say. There's a difference between not confident and scared. I don't think you're scared.

Scared?...Frightened?..Poopin ourselves?..Naaa...Let me explain something to you...First of all, WE aren't the ones PLAYING the game...So if we are nervous or scared or having heart attacks will not matter one way or another...So...guess what?..We are going to send out our 30-4 Tennessee Vols who have beaten almost half this tournament's teams during the season out there to face your big bad bulldawgs...We as the fans shall cheer our warriors...Nervous?..Scared?...Bud, We have faced better teams than Butler all year long...But I will give crdit where credit is due, thats a damn fine team you have that is very capable of beating anybody...just remember, We haven't forgetten last season and We tend to play rather well in big games so goodluck

We are not scared of Butler. We are scared about how OUR team will perform after yesterdays poor effort. If we play to our potential then Butler won't stand a chance.

Our team in 2006 should have been a 4 seed, at best, if you simply judged it by the talent on the roster. Simply looking at the talent on our roster this year, we are a solid 2 seed.

I'm the one who started that thread on the Butler Board.

Personally, I wouldn't say that we think you're scared, but judging by the opinions of many people posting on this board, I just don't see a lot of confidence on your part. It is kinda iffy. Some of you are very confident, and some of you aren't.

When it all comes down to it, it doesn't matter how we feel about the game though. I'll be honest, I'm very confident. None of that matters though. Results matter.

The coaches , and players are probably pretty confident and they'll be the ones playing !

Haha, most of those are just some ignorant Butler fans. Every team has them.

No team should ever be scared of another team, if they are they are done for. If Volunteer nation isn't nervous about Butler though, then you are just downright ignorant. It will be a good game.

Nice intro there fan of the butts !

I will categorize that as an oxymoron when you are talking about Butler basketball. Your first win against a tournament team came yesterday, you lost to Wright State and Cleveland State, and you are facing a team that beat 12 tournament teams this year, including a win at Memphis. If, as you say, results matter, you should be very nervous, indeed.

If this were a players board and these were players making these statements yes I woudl be scared. But it is not it is a bunch of kids and middle age giesers like yourself. Bulter needs to come ready to play because evidently you guys have no idea what you are dealing with.

Srong losses to Wright State and Cleveland State? They didn't score a basket in the last eight minutes and lost by one at Wright State. We have every right to be confident but let's at least be fair.

Butler's resume is weaker than I originaly ever thought. The only big win they've had was against Florida State. Unless you want to count the victory against a really young at the time Ohio State team significant.

Strong losses to Wright State and Cleveland State? Butler did not score a basket in the last 8 minutes at Wright State and lost by one point. We have every right to be confident but let's not overstate the facts.

Don't come here and call any of our fans ignorant.

How about the part of the resume where we kicked your b--t last year ? How did all those top flight monster throw downs work for you in that game ? How about about Pearls post game comment "Please come on who wants to face that".

They're going to seed you guys higher this season because of your win last season? Listen, I hate it when people try to disregard a loss because the bottom line is that you guys beat us down. But now our 4 Freshman off that team have grown up not to mention we have added an All-American to our lineup and by vote the 6th man of the year. I give you guys credit for defeating that bad schedule you've played, but it's the big boys time now. I guess we'll find out tomorrow who really is better.

we weren't the same team as last year.

Ramar Smith - Freshman
Wayne Chism - Freshman
Duke Crews - Freshman
Josh Tabb - Freshman
Tyler Smith - Iowa
JP Prince - redshirting because of transfer
Brian Williams- High School

Oh because I though you guys all thought your style of play and tough schedule meant you were obviously superior in every way. I guess those must have changed as well.

It appears that Butler doesn't offer any type of schooling for how to write down a complete sentence.

Judging by his writing thus far, I'd say that floor sweeper still has another 7 or 8 years of schooling left before he'll be a viable candidate for college admission.

There we go it took exactly five minutes for you basketball geniuses to deteriorate this into a diction debate. As an aside my sentence structure is just fine. I am not trying to write a dissertation.

That's debatable.

I guess it depends on how one would define "just fine."
