1. Announce that Mike Debord, Steve Stripling, Don Mahoney are all either gracefully retiring or moving on "for health reasons" or "to spend more time with their families," etc. as VFLs after the season.
2. Announce that these coaches will be replaced by the "best we can find." Privately spread the word that money will not be an obstacle but will be based largely on performance while OTJ, i.e. an outstanding base salary plus outstanding bonuses for results (like wins and championships).
2. Announce that Zach Azzanni is moving away from being Passing Game Coordinator to [coaching something as far away from the WR group as possible.] Announce that we are searching for the best, next-generation Air-Tennessee WR coach we can possibly find.
3. Announce that the program has a "renewed emphasis" on the strength and conditioning of its players. Privately spread the word that the search is on for the best S&C coach in America for an annual salary in the range of $650-700K plus bonuses, better than these.
4. Privately tell Bob Shoop that he can replace any defensive coach he wants with whomever he wants and that money won't be an obstacle.
5. Hire a new, world-class scriptwriter for fresh 2017 cliches and Butch-speak. Only stipulation: he/she must always write in blue font.

Big time coaches will not come here cause Butch is on the hot seat for next year. They realize it could be a 1 and done.

Unless we lose to Vandy and then also lose the bowl game, CBJ is nowhere near any hot seat. I don't know how may years his current contract is for, but if he wins the two remaining games, he will get an extension, and deservedly so.

That's can't be right. If Butch blows it, somebody could be interim and then could win the job.
We should finish strong beat Vandy and win our bowl, and end up better next year.

Go Vols!

If he goes 9-3 in regular season he isn't on the hot seat. He's stable. Hell he's probably fine at 8-4 but I don't want to think about losing to Candy right now

Butch failed to win the East in year 4. Hot seat going into next year and if he fails to make it again in year 5 then he will be fired plain and simple

Umm no. I'll say it for the millionth time. Kids aren't getting in trouble being thugs. GPA and Graduation rates are at all time highs. Best season in like 10+. Before 1998 we hadn't won a championship in 30+ years. Butch. Is. Going. No. Where. Anytime. Soon.

If they are doing this privately, how would we know?

Actually, 3 SEC Championships in the 10 years preceding the National Title season.

It's not at all unreasonable to expect us to represent the East every 3-4 years. Anything short of that is failure for a coach at Tennessee.

Azzani is where he needs to be. When we actually have a QB that can throw the ball, our receivers are second to none. Notice how quiet the Azzani haters are recently???? Dude is just fine. Wouldn't mind him being OC if we strike out with a big name OC

Why in the world would a Coach not want to come here? Butch Jones is at least going to get 5 years here, unless things go south next year. Man if you can't do anything with a program in 5 years then you should be gone. It doesn't take the right coach 5 years to do anything. McElwain has won the East both times in his first two years. That team doesn't have a lot of talent offensively and hasn't for two years. Hasn't stopped them. Good coaches get it done. Stop making excuses for failure. It doesn't take a guy 6-8 years to build a program.. If it does he's likely not the guy and you wasted a lot of time figuring that out.
