We still don't know what truly went down but there were rumors that the Oline pretty much stopped blocking for him.

well you shouldnt have started the thread with such a high number 70% of the staff is catastrophic. a few coaching assistants will be leave. Mahoney, Martinez, Maybe Z and Maybe Thigpin. its been reported that Shoop and Butch have met with Thig and talked to him about staying. If Coach Z can find another job hes gone.

Whos definitely staying is the real question?

Butch, Shoop, Gillespie and Scott? 4 staff members confirmed to stay. Maybe that's a better perspective.

anyone leaving can be replaced, the AD situation and BoT isnt helping at all. I trust Butch will get it done. The guy loves Tennessee. I think we as a fanbase are just tired of his Cliche coach speak.

Most OCs like to bring in their own staff. When they turn down the offer it's usually because the coach won't allow it or something crazy like that.

I still believe a high profile OC won't come because Butch won't all them to run the show.

How do you work 3 years with a boss you are used to and expect The same the year a new boss is hired. Of course Martinez , thigpen seem discouraged.

This staff is becoming a mess. Since when did coach Z become a primadonna?

wooow.... if that's true they stopped blocking for him, speaks volumes about the kind of problems hurd caused in the locker room. gonna be hard to focus a team with that much distraction and drama.

To the Uneducated:

The staff will turnover if there will be any turnover AFTER NSD and the coaches meeting. Not until then. You don't see any movement any where in college football right now, unless there has been a previous firing and there is an immediate need for hire such as a HC position. With no new AD in place and the subsequent hiring of Blackburn, no one would come here not knowing the future of the HC and direction of the AD.

Coaching moves happen every year. Perfectly normal. Muddy waters tend to clear shortly after the coaches finish their get together which began yesterday I believe. Folks have zero patience these days.

Opening up on an odd ball night against an ACC opponent.

New Coordinator

Staff Turnover

New AD

Oh and this time around UT gets to do it with a RS freshman QB

And he would have cemented himself as a beloved son of Tennessee and would've been revered for generations to come. Now he'll just be remembered as a quitter and a footnote in Tennessee history.

If it is I will be shocked if it is anyone except Scott. And for the record I like Scott and he may do well as OC, but if we are trying to hire someone not on the staff it won't be soon because this administration has put this staff in a position that looks weak to incoming coaches even if it isn't. No AD just a apparent LAME DUCK, and not even a chancellor on board yet so everything has to wait on her, I cannot believe they left us in limbo like this at this worse time possible. And then when we hear the things about her and almost nobody rebuking them things sends a big red flag. It's shameful that our administration is this dadgum goofy, they truly look like the eccentric rich person that has no clue whatsoever about anything but yet think they do.

While that is true regrading the administration, the reason they have put Butch in this scenario is because Butch's team didn't leave up to expectations this season. You can't extend him this year after failing to meet expectations, so in essence he is on a one year contract and possibly a lame duck.

Hello WildOrange. I just recently joined this board as well as the other I post to. I am sincerely hopeful yet at the same time very nervous that there is something going on that none of us know about which is delaying this hire. I have not seen DeerPark comment on this for quite some time. Someone else mentioned a candidate with UT ties but not a UT alum which isn't being discussed in the media. Hard to believe in today's media age that something like that could be kept quiet for more than a day. Whether the scenario your comments allude to is correct or there is something else going on, it doesn't look good to me and comes at a time when recruiting is getting to the climax. Hopefully, LWS's contacts know something and this fog lifts in the next few days.
