Butch, Shoop and few tidbits ..

After hearing all this one thing is for sure, our BOT looks WEAK. The radio folks on radio shows are laughing at them and can't understand their thinking, they also talk about how Tennessee players, coaches and fans deserve better organization and leadership from the top. I know after cooling off from this season I hope Butch can pull it off, it he can get through this next season things could turn for him and us much like they did for Dabo. I hate to think about another coaching search as long as our BOT is acting like it's on crack or something. Heck if it's causing trouble in recruiting you would think SOMEONE in the administration would try to cut this off at the path by making a statement in connection with what is currently going on and try to relieve potential recruits fears. ADMINISTRATION GET OFF YOUR BUTTS, the people in this state that love the university and support it demand it!!!!

i have a bad feeling the admin won't say sh!t publicly until someone is hired and that could end up taking too long and could end up costing us a few recruits/coaches

Let's see Shula son of Don Shula hall of fame coach, so seemed like good hire because of name, sometimes you miss, but not lack of trying.

Price had prior success so seemed good

DuBose won at Memphis prior to taking Alabama job and went to Alabama.

He also won SEC championship at Alabama in 1999.

Weren't HOME RUN HIRES...supported mediocrity. If Rich Rodriguez hadn't reneged, Saban doesn't happen...almost failure has to count. :)

Is apparently leaving and Butch has a hard time filling these positions? I really find that hard to believe.

Most OCs like to bring in their own staff. When they turn down the offer it's usually because the coach won't allow it or something crazy like that.

I still believe a high profile OC won't come because Butch won't all them to run the show.

How do you work 3 years with a boss you are used to and expect The same the year a new boss is hired. Of course Martinez , thigpen seem discouraged.

This staff is becoming a mess. Since when did coach Z become a primadonna?

U know the more I think about it.....

Yes, we need an AD, as soon as possible, preferably, Blackburn.

An OC, even quicker.

Butch a little love. Yes, the USCjr. and Candy losses sucked. But, let's be honest, we could not stop the run leading up to the Vandy game. We did a half-way decent job of stopping the run tbat game. Good job, Shoop, but Vandy's QB capitalized on our aggressive run defense and destroyed our CBs. Despite, all the injuries, with Martinez's coaching, the CB's were always, our biggest weakness. Maybe, we pumped the breaks on our offense with a 10 point halftime lead. Mistake, and yes, Mason may have outcoached us. I can almost live with that, but .......

The So. Carolina game was inexcusable, even with the injuries. Especially after 2 weeks to prepare. Then, I hear, Dobbs admit he pulled 2 allnighters, during game week. Plus, we have the Hurd debacle. So, even tho, I am still sick over both these losses and more or less, the whole year, there have been worst years.

Recruiting has also, been a let down this year. Most talent I have ever seen in the state. Still, top 15, which is where we will end up, is not that bad.

So, UT and Butch, u get the benefit of doubt, from me, for last year. A lot of good was done this year. Now, hire Blackburn, ASAP. Replace the weak coaches and show me something in 2017

The total destruction of Florida in the 2nd half and the Dobbsnail Boot against Georgia were the most enjoyable back to back wins since, I can't remember. If we had finished the A&M comeback, I may have jizzed. Of course, if we had and still chocked the East, I may have been suicidal,2. But, this year was damn fun. Let's make some smart coaching changes, get Blackburn, and back to where we belong. The SEC Championship Game

There was something off about this team all season when comparing it to last season. We saw it day 1 against Appalachian State and it just kept going. It did feel like something internal was going on, whether it was players at odds with one another or coaches at odds with one another or some combination of both. I guess we won't really know any answers until we see who gets sent packing.

I agree, never seemed ready to play at the beginning of games, no discipline. But, they kept winning. If they had won that A&M game, I would have thought they were a team of destiny. But, they didn't, Bama destroyed us and we choked the East by losing to the Cocks and Vandy, but I enjoyed watching this team and for one brief moment, I thought we could be a playoff team. In the immortal words of Stain'd, it's "Been Awhile" since I felt this way

Normally, I'm not a sunshine pumper, but looking back at this year, it was fun for a minute, despite, me never being happy how we performed in wins. This is not life or death, no matter how much we care. Yes, we didn't quite live up to expectations, but we were extremely fun to watch.

I lost my Mom, recently and that has changed my whole outlook on life. Was I disappointed we didn't win the East? Yes, downright depressed at times. But, this team gave me great memories. Florida, hail mary against Georgia, the almost A&M comeback. Dobbs, amazing season, Barnett breaking the Minister of Defense's sack record, getting Nebraska back for those 90s beatdown.

I want Tenn. to be a contender every year, but I have learned to enjoy the special moments and this year had some unbelievable special moments, so I am going to enjoy them

Dougie must have had a dream, and the voices in his head must have been louder than usual. And if anyone leaves, I hope they take D4H with them.

i can totally see hurd being a large internal issue. i mean, didn't we hear how he was going to transfer in the off season?? then we "lucked" out by him coming back only to look like he's absolutely packed it in. lets be honest, hurd looked pretty awful most of this year. i felt like missed holes and ran right into the teeth of the defense more than last year. when john kelly is breaking more tackles than hurd, somethings up. no knock on kelly, i really like him... just hurd should never me out muscled with his size.

Someone started another thread with HIS OPINION that we were losing Martinez, Mahoney, Strip, and possibly Azzanni and Thigpen. OPINION.

Sorry about your mom! There were fantastic moments this season, no doubt. Us coming back and winning at the last moment several times didn't feel like good wins to me though after all is said and done. It seemed to highlight that fact that we weren't controlling the game the whole time.

Hurd blows my mind. Literally all he had to do was tough it out 2 more months and he could have declared for the draft and put TN behind him. He cut off his nose to spite his face.

I agree with u completely, Coug, barely beating App. St. gave us a preview of everything wrong with Team 120. We were never ready to play from every kick-off. App. St. was a decent team, but we should have beat them by 20+. Like u said, from the get-go we never looked like a champion team. Of course, when we squeezed by Syracuse and McNabb, no one thought we would win the NC. We need to improve our discipline(way too many penalties) and make some changes with some position coaches. Gotta improve in state recruiting. I, maybe, was more disappointed in that than anything on the field, last year. Another pretty good year for in state talent, need another top 10 class or we could be in trouble.

BTW, thanks for the kind words abount my Mom

yeah its pretty crazy right? he might not even make it to this years draft right? sounded like to me he was getting a lot of bad advice and people telling him what he should do or how he should be treated. i think he wanted to be the absolute feature of the offense and put on a pedestal. when everyone started talking about dobbs this and dobbs that, he got butt hurt and mailed it in. i think kamara and john kelly taking carries away didn't help his me me me attitude.

Wow Dougie must have some great insider info. so you say 70% can you give names? Whats hurting the hiring process is not having an AD in place. Butch doesnt wanna change the system FOR A REASON. it works.
