I look at it this way. The extra years refer to being a consistent year by year contender for the playoffs and national championship. That is not to say the Vols rising to the top cannot happen next year.

Not a difficult concept. We're paying the guy over 4 million now for an 8 win season. What does he get for a 12 win season? How many coaches get a one million dollar raise in three years for going 5-7, 7-6, and 8-4? My question is what's he going to ask for if he goes 12-0? 6 million? 7 million?

Butch's hype seems to have garnered him a higher salary than he deserves it appears to me.

I think Butch is great at selling himself and coach speak. If you pay high salaries for coach speak ability then yes he should be paid highly.

I understand all that. But now he's saying he needs 6-7 years. So, we give him a raise for scaling back the goals? If we go 9-3 next year does he get another raise? And, then what if he goes 7-5 the year after. Do we get to cut his salary?

The second ones shows Hyams had no clue what Butch means or simply ignores it for clicks

The problem with what Jones said is you don’t get six or seven years to build a program at a school that has tasted success.

Lol... My advice is to never watch another press conference or interview with a coach.

Nobody gets that much time. Everybody knows that. Butch knows that. It was just a comment by a coach. It wasn't a subliminal message.

If Richt doesn't win 11 and a conference title in year one than it also must mean the ACC is far tougher than the SEC where he did it in year one.
