Actually, if your coach can recruit and "Coach Up" your team, you win. You win if your coaches are studs because they do the recruiting and training of great athletes. If your QB is a stud, you win. If your QB is not a stud, you don’t win.
It's WAY WAY WAY more important to have a good recruiting coach and a team of great position coaches than it is to have a "stud QB."
Burrow foundationed at OSU under Meyer. As an aside, that Luke Fickell, an Ohio insider, couldn't get an Ohio boy like Burrow to Cinci....... tells you Fickell is not a stud.
That Smart let Justin Fields get away tells you Smart isn't a stud. That no one else in the SEC (save Saban, who didn't need him) could get Fields to stay in the area...... says coaching studs are hard to find in the SEC.
To emphasize that, Deshaun Watson and Trevor Lawrence...... GA boys who went to Clemson, not the SEC, because they wanted to be coached by studs who'd make sure they got what they needed.
UT does not JUST need a great QB to win. UT needs a coaching staff that can not only get those great QBs but also they need a reputation of coaching those QBs to success.
Ask yourself if that's what we have now.
