it's not the fight. The OP even stated he's a great recruiter. But you have to start questioning his in game coaching skills, not just because of bad play, but the calls. And for everyone busting Baj, why does no one ever remember that he's just running Butch's offense?
Yep- lots of freshmen, brand new line and critical injuries handcuff the coaches. The offense was vanilla due to the tenacious Missouri defense. If Malone makes that catch we have a different ball game. Missouri is a damn good team AJ being out really hurt.
I like Butch but he is stubborn and unless things change it will cost him. He has forced his offensive system and made little to no changes to adapt to personnel. Of course it's hard to do much with the porous line we have -/ but the play calling leaves a lot to be desired. The offense puts me to sleep and last night reminded so much of the Auburn game a few years back where all we needed was one first down to get into FG range and could not pick up a yard.
This should have been obvious from last night. Pinkel has been there for years. His plan is well-established. His players may not be highly touted, but they are experienced and know the system.I wish people would stop crying about the coaches. The last thing Tennessee needs is more coaching turnover. It's the reason we're in the mess we're digging out of now. It's like running your head into a brick wall and expecting different results.
Serious question. People will blast me as a negavol ect. But like it or not... Hes not going to return us to prominence. Hes a great recruiter but a terrible tactician. And he's just one of these guys that scared to death of life. Like the guy in the highway that slams on his brakes in the middle of an intersection when the light turns yellow. I've been in the fence about him but I'm not anymore. We've lost almost every winable game he's coached in while here. The two he won (sc) both took miraculous comebacks that never should have been required. We were firmly in control of both games in the second half before getting conservative and trying to run out the clock. Last night we saw an example of a great coach. They got the ball off a to late in the game while leading and put their foot on our throats and won.
So two questions...Who's next and how much longer before we can afford to part with Butch? Serious questions so please don't merge...
That coach across the field from Butch last night has a ton of Jimmy's and Joe's doesnt he?
the last thing you ever want to do to a great defense is run a vanilla offense. Why make it even easier for them? Also, AJ being out has little to no bearing on the offense. Especially considering the game was close throughout.
