A loss to Kentucky would not be that big of a shock. Especially given the injuries to our DL and JRM and possibly Sutton. The defense is pretty decimated right now.
Even if it were.... Jones owns the injury rate now that it has been higher than average for 3 straight years.
If we lose one more game, there is mathematically no way for us to win the East and go to Atlanta.
Have some chill, bro
This is a must win in order to win the (incredibly weak) East, which was supposed to be the next step. Forget being the favorite next year, we were the runaway favorites for the East this year and look where we're at. We are in a must win situation for the next 3 games in order to win the East.
Understood but losing to Kentucky, no matter how good they are and no matter how beat up we are, will always carry a humongous degree of shock value!
Depends. If Sutton and AK return then no he doesnt. But if we are missing OBrien, KMac, Tuttle, JRM, AK and Sutton then thats going to be tough to overcome. He wouldnt get a huge pass but one cannot argue that those are major injuries to key positions.
I'm totally on board with the attrition rate being his responsibility but the injury rate? Injuries happen. We've been highly unlucky this year not just with the number but also with which particular players got injured. Does he own the injury distribution too?
You weaken your argument when you try and inflate it in this way.

So you think Butch gets a pass on this game if the Vols lose?
losing Saturday, again with a legit shot at the SEC e on the line, would be bad for CBJ.
not "he's gonna get fired at season's end" bad....but "lucy you got some splainin' to do" bad...
This is what it should be:
"Butch, you led us out of darkness. Many thanks and great job following Stooley. We're looking to take this to the next level now. Let me introduce you to Coach Gruden...."
But I know the narrative: Hambone, Bama Dave, waiting on Blackburn, Hurd was a cancer, injuries, eye discipline...
This is "must win" number 21 out of 47 games Butch has coached in. I really think, we need to find a new term. Cause they aren't all must win games. Let's reserve the term must win for a game that might mean the coach will lose his job. Butch took over a program that was at an all-time low and has gone from 5-7 to 7-6 to 9-4 and is now on the cusp of a 10-3 season. Grant it, he hasn't done everything right, but what coach or human being has. Don't be like puppy fans and think you are going to win the NC every year. This season was always about taking the next step. Next year, we should be the favorite for the SEC east and if you only lose one game during the season, winning the SEC probably means you are in the final four. Let's just root on our team!
