Butch Has My Support

I've been a true fan since 1968, I was 6 years old when I seen my first UT game.
Walked on in 1980, didn't last, tore both knees....
I will support Butch...
I didn't support bozo Dooley, just something about his _ _ _ _ _ !!!!!

If this were Wheel of Fortune, I would guess.....pants.

Fully support him. What is the choice? Pull for him to fail? If he fails, the team fails and I do not want that.

I pull for him to succeed because I want our team to succeed and our school to succeed. I pull for him because I do not want to start over again. I pull for him because I want to win now. I am tired of waiting for "next year".

Do I expect him to succeed? Not really. But I really am rooting for him to succeed and overachieve.

Right now Butch is like my underperforming manager. I want him to succeed so I don't have to fire him and start over, but after four years of having his system in place, kids supposedly being developed, and his buddies in the booth, at some point you have to hold his feet to the fire. Shape up in 2017 or ship it out.

By all accounts, Butch still has the team on board. This season was rough... really rough. But, I think injuries were beyond the norm this year. Basically, we've been starting 3rd stringers at DT (which was already our weakest link), our LBs are 2nd string or injured, and the O Line has been a walking trauma unit.

Nobody wants to hear excuses. I'm with you. Losing to Vandy is horrific. BUT, I hope cooler heads will reign. Butch and his staff need our support, not infighting and second guessing.

Look at LONG TERM successful programs... their fanbases understand ups and downs, and their coaching staffs are steady (Pittsburg Steelers now on 3rd Head Coach... in the past 47 years).

The generation of immediate gratification needs to take a seat and shut the f up.

True Vol fans get this.

and then coached the Steelers to another SuperBowl appearance 2 years later in addition to 3 more playoff appearances.

Now in year 4 Butch has not won any championships of any sort. Yes, he has improved the program, recruited better, gone 2-0 in bowl games. Unfortunately, his coaching, preparing & adjusting for BIG games with A LOT on the line has gotten WORSE.

His BIG game coaching hasn't gotten worse.. he's just always been this bad at coaching BIG games. 😂

How about GAMES in general? Even the ones where we win, I usually don't walk away and think, "man, Butch was on point tonight!......great calls, just great." I usually walk away and think, "at least it's a W."

Hey armchair quarterback. By all means, please submit your resume to UT or any football program on this planet. Sorry, what's that? Oh, you're not actually a coach?

Hindsight is 20/20. If you can improve our team by becoming a coach, PLEASE apply.

Not hindsight....everyone, including the commentators, asked WHAT THE HELL IS HE DOING the moment Butch did it.

Doesn't take special insight...just a pair of eyes and a functional brain stem.

It would be interesting to count the n umber of posts who hate CBJ and interject he makes millions of dollars. Seems like a lot of $$$$$$ envy is a part of it all power 5 coaches make millions of dollars. Why not hate the big $$$ donors Who influence the AD as well

No one is jealous of lyle allen.

It has always been an excuse to not feel bad for him.

How anyone could feel bad for expecting a millionaire to perform or get out is beyond me.

Listen up, y'all. NegaVols are here to stay. These here posters aren't like Tasmanian Tigers, Great Auks, Passenger Pigeons, Carolina Parakeets, or even Pig-footed Bandicoots. They're like rats, cockroaches, and the common cold virus. You're never going to stamp them out. :nono:

So is this The University of Tennessee or The University of Butch Jones? Because I'm a Tennessee fan, and I want what's best for my team. Butch has revealed who he is on gameday and that's mediocre. He isn't going to change and he isn't going to compete for championships in the SEC.

Do you really expect the guy who got out coached by Will Muschamp and Derek Mason with arguably the most talented roster Tennessee has seen since maybe 2002 is going to come close to giving Saban a run for his money? Lol the longer will keep this guy on our sidelines, the closer we get ourselves back into a rebuild stage, and that's a fact.

I'll give you the injury excuse for the Alabama game this season, but every other loss was winnable and we were the better team. Simple as that, end of story.

So... Do this: Take the Houston Texans. Remove DL JJ Watt. Then remove the guy that replaced him. Remove DL Wilfork. Then remove the guy that replaced him.

Remove both starting linebackers.

Then remove their best all pro defensive cornerback.

Tell me... Just how good would the Texans defense be at that point?

This is where UT has been this year... and this is defense only. Mmmkay, so maybe overboard on the JJ analogy.

Would you fire Houston's Head Coach when they don't win?

...20/20 hindsight is hard to argue against...now, if we could do just as well with foresight...:)
