Butch Has My Support

I can't think of a team we can beat if we play like we did against Vandy.

Get it together Butch.

Go Vols!

Offense hasn't shown up before the 3rd quarter against good teams. I have no reason to believe it would change now and the D hasn't been good since 2nd half of Florida

If Carolina got rolling it would get ugly quick

It would be easier to support him if we would have been at least a 10 win team before the bowl. UT is bigger than the coach and everyone involved with the program deserves more.

So, in reality, Butch is an excellent public speaker and representative of Tennessee (i.e. the anti-Kiffin), and his OC and DC make the play calls on offense and defense.

No, they don't.

Stop putting a millionaire before the institution.

Vol's fans have the worst case of battered wife syndrome. Grow a pair and demand excellence, if you're really a true fan.

We only played 1 good team all year. Any team that gets rolling on us would make it a long day.

Get it together Butch!

Go Vols!

As a UT grad and diehard fan of 30 years, I've seen our ups and downs. I also have enough wisdom to know how the program works (the DC and OC make play calls, kiddo).

4 years ago, Butch Jones was our THIRD pick that we approached to become our HC. Gundy and Strong (recently fired by the other UT btw) said no thanks to us.

You should be kissing Butch's Lilly white a$$ for coming here and putting up with the moronic blather that folks like you spew on Volnation, junior.

By all accounts, Butch still has the team on board. This season was rough... really rough. But, I think injuries were beyond the norm this year. Basically, we've been starting 3rd stringers at DT (which was already our weakest link), our LBs are 2nd string or injured, and the O Line has been a walking trauma unit.

Nobody wants to hear excuses. I'm with you. Losing to Vandy is horrific. BUT, I hope cooler heads will reign. Butch and his staff need our support, not infighting and second guessing.

Look at LONG TERM successful programs... their fanbases understand ups and downs, and their coaching staffs are steady (Pittsburg Steelers now on 3rd Head Coach... ever).

The generation of immediate gratification needs to take a seat and shut the f up.

True Vol fans get this.

Generation of immediate gratification..lol...im almost 40 years old, 20 years in the military..

If we had a well coached team that execuded fundamentals, I would still be on board, but we do not. We field a poorly coached team that wins games on talent.

As long as Butch is here we'll all WANT him to win but most of us can see that he has peaked and he isn't cut out to coach at this level. His sayings have worn thin and while he has been able to recruit the lack of player development, very poor coaching decisions and his stubbornness have led to the fans doubting him. He has without a doubt brought this team out of the depths which it was in but unfortunately for him and for us he's just not the one to get it to the very top of the hill. I hope he wins every game as long as he's coach but it doesn't make any of us any lesser fans because we just don't see him as the one who is going to win championship here.

Do you surround yourself with idiots who reside in the same echo chamber of idiocy you live in, or do most people prefer to just nod and find themselves something productive to do when you're around?

You lost me at kissing his a$$. He's not doing us a favor. He's making money....a lot of money....to put a good product on the field. He's not doing that.

I love the steeler comparison too. I'll wait by the mailbox for Butch to win a Conference championship much less a National championship.

Reality is you sunshine pumpers don't want to admit he isn't the guy and are completely ok with losing as long as the Vols are above .500 no matter the opponent.

Maybe that is the thing, I really want us to be competitive, win 8+ games a year and best the team's we should...now that is where my frustration is this year but championships are few and far between, even at the sec level.

Support him? Sort of. I think that I just have a realistic understanding that there is no savior coming for the Tennessee football program. There is no coach in the world that is coming to Tennessee that is going to resurrect this program The Way We fans want it to happen.

He does surround himself with idiots when he comes to this forum.

That is probably true. Butch does need to do some "self analysis" and try to identify the missing ingredients in his plan for 2016 because there were clearly problems that plagued the team most of the year. What was it? How can it be corrected? None of us knows for sure, but I tend to think part of it is psychological and instead of trying to differentiate between being "ready" and being"prepared" he needs to just be more direct with what he expects from players and coaches.

Just wondering, how many of those injured players called that play on 4th down near the end of the game instead of trying a field goal?

Hey armchair quarterback. By all means, please submit your resume to UT or any football program on this planet. Sorry, what's that? Oh, you're not actually a coach?

Hindsight is 20/20. If you can improve our team by becoming a coach, PLEASE apply.

Ha, ha....get your panties in a wad much? The used car salesman better shape up or ship out. He makes millions of dollars to put his players in a position to win the games they are supposed to win. Get over yourself.

I would support him in the decision to gtfo

You have my support to GTFO. Your likely the type that always throws the baby out with the bathwater. Reasonable arguments can be made for retaining Butch and some for moving on.
