Butch Has My Support

"True fans" didnt see the writing on the wall and pulled for Dooley after it was obvious he was over his head.

Yes, and those other fans are emotionally stunted. They call for firings after every tough loss and pay raises after good wins.

Generation of immediate gratification..lol...im almost 40 years old, 20 years in the military..

If we had a well coached team that execuded fundamentals, I would still be on board, but we do not. We field a poorly coached team that wins games on talent.

No, kiddo, it's because you're too young. Everyone your age is all the same, junior.

You have my support to GTFO. Your likely the type that always throws the baby out with the bathwater. Reasonable arguments can be made for retaining Butch and some for moving on.

* you are

I honestly can find very few reasons to retain him, and me, a large percentage of vol fans, and nearly all the sports media have a number for him to move on.

You honestly believe he is going to perform better next year?
You honestly believe he will make it past 2018?
You are dreaming. So personally I don't like the concept of our recruiting souring and having an empty stable when we are reentering the coaching carousel.
If you want to wait till after the program tanks, it is your perogative, but I think you are foolish.

Hey armchair quarterback. By all means, please submit your resume to UT or any football program on this planet. Sorry, what's that? Oh, you're not actually a coach?

Hindsight is 20/20. If you can improve our team by becoming a coach, PLEASE apply.

The sad part is, most of Butch's terrible decisions are obvious immediately. No hindsight necessary. See: not going for two against Florida

I'm with Butch because it doesn't matter anymore.

No matter how much we lose our minds on here and keep our hands and brains busy arguing about it, he's going to be back.

May as well accept it and settle in for the next 10-12 months. I'm not going to not watch or keep up with Tennessee Football, so I'll just keep hoping for the best and clapping when something goes our way.

I'm hoping that we make some good hires at the top to fix this mess around this time next year.

BUTCH HAS MY SUPPORT TOO!!!

Only because now isn't the time for change. The administration changes are about to happen and the current administration shouldn't be the ones deciding the future of UT football. It really is that simple.

Negativity at this point only hurts the program for the future. So, put on a fake smile and let Butch do the best job he can. Id like to think that our problems are simply because of injuries but Butch has proven time after time that his game day coaching skills are seriously lacking. However, I do still have a small glimmer of hope that Butch turns this around. Very small.

Y'all join me with a fake smile and wish for success next year and understand the negativity does no good at this point in time. GO VOLS.

Maybe that is the thing, I really want us to be competitive, win 8+ games a year and best the team's we should...now that is where my frustration is this year but championships are few and far between, even at the sec level.

Butch was given 2 shots at an east title and blew them both. The east won't be down forever.

By all accounts, Butch still has the team on board. This season was rough... really rough. But, I think injuries were beyond the norm this year. Basically, we've been starting 3rd stringers at DT (which was already our weakest link), our LBs are 2nd string or injured, and the O Line has been a walking trauma unit.

Nobody wants to hear excuses. I'm with you. Losing to Vandy is horrific. BUT, I hope cooler heads will reign. Butch and his staff need our support, not infighting and second guessing.

Look at LONG TERM successful programs... their fanbases understand ups and downs, and their coaching staffs are steady (Pittsburg Steelers now on 3rd Head Coach... in the past 47 years).

The generation of immediate gratification needs to take a seat and shut the f up.

True Vol fans get this.

Well said. Thanks for being a voice of sanity in the midst of the roar of tantrums.

Most of the time if a person is simply "real" and speaks in earnest I'm more than willing to work with em on just about anything. Lord knows I've made my share of eff ups and in the end all I could say was wow I really screwed up. Personally if Butch would just be candid and call the season what it was....disappointing by all accounts I for one would cool down and put my half cracked orange colored glasses back on and giggle about beating Uf this year and try to look at something positive. I know it's hard but it's part of being a fan. But he's gone silent and the way he left the presser after Candy sure didn't sit well. If he's the caretaker of Tenn football then act like it dammit. Show up and speak truth and be real and give us a reason to want to move forward. At least quell all these rumors for Petes sake! I mean do you expect a fanbase to support ya if they think you're quitting??

:eek:lol:The negative comments on this web site has now begun to effect recruiting...why three de-comits this week? The lost to Vanderbilt is over. It is time to move on and leave the negative comments in the gutter.

Do you surround yourself with idiots who reside in the same echo chamber of idiocy you live in, or do most people prefer to just nod and find themselves something productive to do when you're around?

LMAO. So... You suggest that folks should "grow a pair and demand excellence". That's your solution to our 9-4 season?

Care to enlighten "idiotic" fans like me and expand on just exactly what specific actions "demanding excellence" entail?

So what do propose? Fire Butch? Then what? Who do you hire as a replacement? Who is the new staff that is going to both out-recruit and out-coach Butch and company?

You dumb azz Butch supporters can't even admit he makes some of the stupidest in game decisions of any professional coach ever !! Armchair QB' s wouldn't make most of the stupid calls he makes !
Even the ones that want him fired yesterday will admit he recruited well and brought us along way from Dooley .
Why can't you admit he ain't a great coach? There is too damn much evidence for you to not see it!

What was this season's motto? "Own It"? I distinctly remember him speaking of "owning" the expectations preseason. He doesn't seem to be living by his own words.
