Build Team Like Cristobal Built the U

How does Miami already have it figured out before we do? We sit by and watch all these teams pass us year after year
Because Miami is doing something that is tried and true and very basic yesterday, today and tomorrow in the sport of football. They are winning at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. They have a basic understanding that if they can't win in the trenches then they probably aren't going to win a lot of games or at least the ones that they want to.

Personally I think we need to pump the brakes on these types of discussions. No telling of what the next series of games will bring.

If Miami loses badly to the SEC team, they play next, this entire conversation will not fare well.

Just like the ones about the B1G lost out due to games yesterday,
If Miami loses their next game it's not going to change anything for me. It will just likely mean that they were outplayed at the line of scrimmage. The point is Miami was a lot like Tennessee over the last decade or so, but they have put a lot of emphasis I'm being really good up front and it shows

Easier said than done. Heupel has built UT to be a fast, finesse team. Physicality isn't his thing and it appears to be foreign to the vast majority of our roster. We're in a pretty deep hole at the moment.
This is the SEC, not The COLLEGIATE FLAG FOOTBALL OFFICIALS ASSOCIATION

This season should light a fire under Heupel like never before. If he’s the guy we hope is here for a while. Also, watching this year’s playoff teams should be a real eye opener for where this program needs improvement. Our game with OSU last year should have already done that.

The key difference to Tennessee losing each of their games this season, was the drastic drop off at the line of scrimmage compared to their opponents. Especially the defensive front that Tennessee basically doesn't have.

I'll be honest, I thought he was a clown who found a way to lose games he shouldn't. Which he has, to be fair, they still didnt win the ACC. But hes a playoff game winner against one of the big boys so there's that.

Yelling at a ref in confusion is not the same as getting in their ass over botched calls or non calls.

Week in and out, he looks like a pushover every time he confronts a ref. And as someone who went to multiple games this year, you could see it in the stadium. Not just a TV spectator.

This isn’t some conspiracy that Heupel is very lackadaisical on the sidelines every week. It’s been widely talked about and documented all season....
By a bunch of dipchits.

This is some petty and uninformed BS

Does that matter? Do you think he would rather have an ACC or National? Dumb ass take.
yeah, i don’t get why people keep using that as some dig versus Miami. Imagine if Tennessee was going to the semifinals, and people kept saying “maybe you’ll win the SEC next year, champ.” Why would any of us care lol?

Playoff success>>>>a conference title.

There’s nothing petty about saying our coach and team this year was soft as charmin and pushovers. And that ain’t a TV observation either.

I love Heupel but that doesn’t mean I’m gonna act like he is safe from any criticism.
Moving the goalposts there, Pal. I was speaking specifically to the notion that he doesn't get on the refs. I agree the team needs a serious discipline check. That will will win a couple of extra games just on that front

Heupel never challenged the refs in the same manner the top tier coaches do/did.

He just rolls over and takes it and has zero fire. The high energy is not his personality type, but there wasn’t one time this year where he got after a ref over a call to the point where he was daring them to throw flag on him.

Tennessee must be the only school where the head coach getting an unsportmanslike penalty or technical foul to try to fire up the team is frowned upon lol.

Look at these coaches in the quarterfinal games this weekend. All of them exhibit more energy and fire in one series than Heupel did all season. He and the team were just pushovers all year.

Hopefully that is a point of concentration and they can reverse that.

I know you're not talking about Barnes.
Of all the things to get on Heupel about, this is petty.

Barnes has gotten mild with refs of late. But in his case, he’s earned the right to do whatever.

In regards to Heupel, call it petty, but it’s no surprise that the theme of the 2025 Tennessee Vols was lazy and undisciplined play. That comes from not having a high energy or fired up coaching staff.

Take working the refs and put that topic to the side. No one can point to anywhere this season where the staff or team didn’t come across looking complacent.

Down years hit every coach and program. Maybe that’s the case for the 2025 season. We should all hope it is.

Did I not call out the lack of discipline with the team? That has nothing to do Heupel and the refs

It all is connected. Heupel this past season never showed any intensity or fire or energy when it came to any dynamic of the game. From refs to players to other coaches. Guy looked complacent and low energy all season long. It’s not like the team was a wreck in spite of him. Starts at the top.

Maybe he got bit by one of the infamous energy vampires.

No, it's not. Sorry to break that reality to you
