Buddy Green

The Mids posted an impressive 9-4 record in 2010, defeated Army for a series record ninth-consecutive time, defeated Notre Dame in consecutive seasons for only the third time in school history and appeared in a school record eighth-consecutive bowl game. The Mids gave up just 23.3 points per game, which was the 46th best scoring defense in the country.

That ought to work well in the SEC :whistling:

I'd rather go with a fired coach from the NFL than some unheard of from Navy. Heck, why not Raheem Morris? Or CLT? Nothing makes me think Buddy Green is ready nor qualified for the SEC. :banghead2:

This is getting comical.

Navy has had some good defenses in the past and they're obviously shorthanded, but I don't know about this.

Honestly guys, if the only DC that will consider coming here to work for Dooley is Buddy Green then rest assured, we will most likely promote Lance T to DC and rightfully so. That seems like our best option at this time.

Why bother interviewing him if that is the case?

Wow , now were going after Buddy Green. This guy use to be a HC @ UTC and he sucked there.Next thing we hear is he is going after Mars Hills DC and with Dooley that won't surprise me.

A.) It's UTC. It's hard to win there. Period.
B.) Read the whole bio before picking out the little parts you want to dissect in front of VN to make yourself sound knowledgeable.

The rest of that paragraph (that you so eloquently redacted most of) reads:

Green left N.C. State in 1994 to become the head coach at Tennessee-Chattanooga, where he coached for six seasons and was also the Director of Athletics for two years. In 1997, Green led his Chattanooga squad to a I-AA national ranking and its first winning record in six years. He also helped develop one of the top wide receivers in the NFL, Terrell Owens. Green returned to Raleigh in 2000 and took over one of the worst defenses in the ACC. By the time he left, they were ranked in the Top 25 in scoring defense and were at or near the top in every defensive category.

You must be one of those guys that thinks only checkbooks will solve all problems.

You guys need to just get a grip and come to terms with the fact that no big name coach will ever come to UT because of the fan base. People in the UT fan base are too impatient to wait for a program to be rebuilt. Instead, we just call for every coach's name and demand instant gratification. Why would a recruit want to come here too? I always read how people get on here and say how a player is a bust because they did not perform to SEC standards as a true freshman. The Vols have talent, but they are too young to perform to those standards right now. Really, the disparity in maturity and experience between UT playing Bama, LSU, UGA etc. is the equivalent to Bama going and playing Green bay or New Orleans. Yet, all the arm chair coaches on here think its crazy that the Vols didn't win any big games? Patience is a virtue guys. Just my 2 cents. Go ahead and flame me now.

Who you taking too there McFlurry? :p

LSU and Bama fans are just as bad, and Saban instantly won there taking over bad programs. The SEC is not a place to train a Head coach.
