TN's been lacking a scoring threat in the half court offense outside of clearing out for Williams to go one-on-one. Last night showed what can happen by quickly moving the ball instead of dribbling out possessions. Turner and Daniel can do some damage from the outside when defenses are forced to chase the ball. Bowden needs to be another threat.

Definitely looks like rotation is shortening...Darrington didn’t make an appearance, and no he wasn’t one of the ones with the flu...just Barnes shortening the rotation up.

Auburn had the advantage as the road team one day after New Year's.

They traveled to Knoxville on New Year's day. They were together with the coaches that night and not carousing about at parties. They must have had a lot more focus than UT.

UT appeared unfocused and with low energy the next day.

New Year's likely had a big effect on them -- negatively.

Or maybe Auburn is just that good. They were impressive again yesterday

Where was Barne’s fire & energy in the Auburn game?

He looked like a completely different coach tonight.

Whoever thinks he is here to collect a check needs to reconsider the possibilities. He is a competitor.

Like many athletes, I think Barne’s got a little comfortable. I didn’t like his demeanor after the NC loss. That makes it two times that we could have beat that team. I think the two losses to teams he didn’t expect to lose to woke him up as well. I also think he felt outcoached against Bruce, and who knows, maybe he was inspired by Bruce’s passion. That’s a big reason his teams listen to him. How can you expect your players to play with passion if you don’t show yours (I highly believe Barne’s has passion, he is just less of an extrovert). Regardless, you can know a lot about basketball, but if your players don’t like and listen to you, it’s pointless.

I also think Barnes really wants that 5 star and knew a W would go a long way towards sealing the deal. Probably more in the back of his head, but may have had a bit of influence.

This team woke up in the second half. Let’s see if they can sustain that fire.

I think credit also needs to go to the scouting report, whoever is responsible for that. We adjusted well at the half. The entire game we played a different style of ball, either because of the scouting, smaller rotation, or adjustments (maybe all of the above). Hope this continues, makes it much more interesting to watch when the whole team gets involved.

I've been on Ful. and Turner before. They played great in this one, as did Schofield and Alexander. Congrats !!

Lanier had the scout for UK.

He is one of the top 2 coaches in league. He is the total opposite of your favorite coach at Missouri

I’m not sure what that has to do with my post?

As for CCM, he’s in Year 1 at Missouri and likely has them dancing (without their best player)...it has taken Pearl to Year 4, just saying.

Actually Tennessee’s offense went stale vs Ark when they started to slow it down in last 4-5 minutes.

I wouldn't pop the champagne yet. Cuonzo has a way of letting fans down

Also, the pace was fine until the end of regulation because we had held them under 70 until the last couple of minutes. They hit 95 but scored like 18 in OT. I thought the pace was fine.

Why would they? He’s the best coach they’ve had in a loooooooong time. Maybe ever.

Oh I agree...but there’s been more than one poster on this board that has said no coach should get more than 3 years regardless of situation to make the dance, if they aren’t dancing by Year 3 time to move on.

I bet they don’t go dancing.

It’s definitely possible they don’t...a win yesterday in what appeared to be just about locked up would have gone a long ways, that one will sting them come March.

This league is gonna be a mess, I’m really curious to see if Auburn runs away with it because they definitely have started out hot...nobody besides them looks much better than 10-8/11-7.

Thankfully I’m not a Missouri fan, again though...

Not sure what my OP had to do with Missouri, I was mentioning that I’m sure Auburn fans are glad they didn’t run off Pearl at the end of last year.

I know you're not a Missouri fan. You love you some Cuonzo though
