AA said yesterday that he thinks Bryce Brown could get passed up in the Spring. Interesting comment considering Williams is a terrific prospect that nobody ever talks about. Huge winter and camp coming up for Brown. Huge.

Anybody could get passed up in the spring. But I don't think Brown gets passed up, he's just too talented. He's an excellent threat coming out of the backfield as well.

That is interesting considering Williams is still on the mend, would love to see both tear it up.

Williams would have to play out of his skull to pass Brown. He's coming off of a torn ACL, and we don't even know if he'll get to play in the spring.

I am not sure about this one...Will be interesting to see how the running backs perform during the spring.

I feel like X has said this too at some point, saying that a lot of people he talked to thought Williams was the best back on campus. May have been Basilio though.

Bryce is really the complete back. Nothing is guaranteed, but I just don't see this happening. Not to say Williams won't get his share, but BB will be the man next year, IMO.

Williams is a big strong back but he is no where near BB IMO. Brown has the size and speed, not to mention a full year in the system. If he is not the started next year then I will be surprised.

I know people keep wanting to dismiss him... but Poole's few carries vs VT were one of the few things I found to be pleased with. After MH couldn't get anything going, TP ran 3 times for 15 yards.... but then CLK took him out and he disappeared again. Hardesty had 39 yards on 18 carries. I really would have liked to have seen what more Poole could have done.

I will support the coaches but it almost seems like they're afraid Poole will be successful if he gets a real shot.

Blows my mind the way people either trash talk or over look BB. The kid was pretty much playing hurt all year and running behind Montario. BB will be our starting RB next year IMO!

I like Brown. I have an open mind towards him and am specifically NOT saying he doesn't have a great future.... but I'm still not buying until I see better cutting and lateral agility out of him. I know he played injured but that doesn't change the fact that we've never really seen him make a quality cut. He may have the ability when healthy or maybe not. I don't know about Williams but Hardesty had that ability as do Oku and Poole.

If Brown can't make decisive cuts then he isn't going to be a great back in a zone blocking system.

Bryce, if he stays healthy, will get the bulk of the carries. Poole/Oku/Williams will have to fight for the 2nd spot in the rotation and whoever wins will end up getting some significant carries.

Found what I was talking about. This isn't AA, but it's X...

I can’t wait until the spring to watch all four running backs compete for the starting position. A new running backs coach gives a new life to Tauren Poole who got lost in the shuffle this past season. I have been told by more than one person Toney Williams , outside of Montario Hardesty, is the best running back on campus. From what I saw last spring, I would have a hard time disagreeing with that statement. I do think Bryce Brown, who has unlimited potential, better come to the spring healthy and ready to compete because the others will.

Bryce Brown has the most ability in the backfield. Add to that his great attitude and work ethic and I dont see him getting beat out unless he is not 100% healthy.

I see this as nothing more than awesome. Hopefully the young hogs are better than expected.

Brown had the same YPC as Hardesty, zero fumbles, and great hands..... as a freshman. It would take a really special effort from a really talented back to beat him for the starting job.

I am not knocking the level BB was able to elevate himself to during highschool to come in as the #1 recruit in the country. He definitely has talent. However, I will be honest and say that each and every back that has turned out to be memorable in UT history has by far and away exhibited something when they have the ball, FROM THE START. It is elusiveness, power, cutting ability, vision, or raw speed that makes you say, "Give him the ball again." Then as they learn, they only get better. BB has not shown ME that "something special" in any way to date. IMO, both Poole and Williams have. Arian Foster was very productive as a back but is he remembered along with J. Lewis, Cobb, Webb, Cheese? NO.
