Bryce Brown Gone

bump.........
i want this thread to be as long as BB's recruiting thread was when many of you(us) were saying how much you(we) didn't want him because of the drama.....
You can interchange Oku into this if you would like.

I hope he does well in his next choice.
I hope that he is OK. UT will survive.
(i don't believe it when fijivol72 says we are doooooomed)
Vols have great supporters that are there year in and year out.
You might say that they(we) drink the kool-aid every year.

I think I am going to take a nice long bubble bath tonight, listen to some Alanis and reflect.

Break out the candles, yo.

That way when your chick gets home ....it's a 2 for 1.

She won't know why and she won't care.

:good!:

I knew this kid would be drama but I thought he would have done more damage before he left. Gook luck to him.

BB did not live up to the hype last year. He appears injury prone and not very emotionally strong. Poole looked like he was a man with a mission last year in the bowl game. He actually ran the ball better while he was in there than Hardesty did. Poole needs his chance. Oku I believe will be a nice 1-2 punch. Let BB go. He's gonna be knocked out by game 2 with a concussion anyways.

"Oh, they hurt my wee lil head in practice last year."

Oh, look at all the pretty lil birds."

I hope CDD can get him back too. That would be the sort of signals that would help CDD start winning some of us doubters over. But, he'll never really get strong support until he wins. And that is one helluva hard task for the next two seasons, even if he is a good coach.

I'm still a doubter. I doubt both ways though. I doubt he will succeed and I doubt he will fail... I also allow for both. There just isn't enough to draw a conclusion on.

I've said he was a high risk hire and nothing has changed my mind on that. I honestly have seen and heard a few things that bother me some... but not things that have been talked about here. I seldom look at incidents and draw conclusions. I look at patterns and methods. I haven't seen patterns... but I've seen some hints of methods. Some I've liked. Most I'm neutral on. Some concern me.

Sure... but I'm not claiming the program would fall apart if Poole left. I hope he doesn't... but the world wouldn't end just like it won't if BB goes. No one has said that Poole was the #1 player in the country and therefore a sure fire success...

I want BB to stay but based on what I saw from all of them I wouldn't be worried going ahead with Poole and Oku.

Agreed. I don't think anyone would argue that RB isn't our deepest position talent-wise. We are deep at WR as well, just young. I'm not worried moving ahead with Poole and Oku either. I love both their styles and they will compliment each other well. However, saying Poole and/or Oku are more polished and SEC ready just doesn't add up. Poole hasn't even ran for 175 yds in his career so far. He doesn't exactly have the body of work to say he is without-a-doubt SEC caliber with only 32 career rushes for 171 yds.. I pray Poole and Oku both rush for 1,000 next season, but I need more from ALL of them--Brown included--before I name any of them an All-American.

Dooley is obviously lying. Some here have concluded beyond all doubt that BB could only be considering leaving because of what Dooley has done to him the last 8 weeks during winter work outs.

As we all know around this time last year Kiffin hadn't lost a single player from the program and had half his class already committed. If anyone says we had 11 players gone for various reasons and only one recruit...well they're obviously misremembering. Coach O was also out using his superhuman power of flight to visit recruits, and Monte was firing orange T's out of his ass at Urban Meyer.

OK that was a bit crass, but still...some of us sure do have some select memories regarding how things compare to this time last year. Going through one bitter coaching change hurt us last year. Going through two is almost crippling when it comes to convincing high school players, their coaches, and their families that UT is the place to spend the next 3 to 5 years. Making any kind of determination at this point is premature until a new staff has the time to get the program back on its feet.

He was the most physically gifted back on the roster and probably the best receiver as well. He also did well relieving a future first day pick. Losing him won't break the team, but let's not get nuts and pretend he couldn't play here.

No. He had 1 commit. All the commits starting cming in June and July.

I dont understand why so many are bashing Brown? He's a good kid.. And he did well this year.. He has a bright future ahead of him..

If he's having personal issues, who are any of you to judge him..

It sucks thast we are losing him, but I wish him the best

No one has said that Poole was the #1 player in the country and therefore a sure fire success... If Poole doesn't have skills then shouldn't BB be much better and not just equal?

PS- that is a good way to answer those stats. The comeback though is that Poole hit a 34 yarder in 5 tries while BB had twice the carries and only hit a 34 yarder once.

I can see your point here--Poole definitely took advantage of his opportunities. Quite simply, it all boils down to a matter of opinion. Everyone differs on what they look for in/consider a great back. I'd love to see BB have a change of heart and stay, but I'm glad to have any of the 3 as our starter. And thats not even putting Williams and Neal into the equation. We are gonna be just fine at RB barring severe depletion due to injury.

Way wrong there...J Smith was our only commit and we did in fact lose 11 players with the coaching change. Don't know where you are getting your info.

I was being facetious. Unless you were also being facetious. Sarcasm on the internet is hard. Thought the whole orange thunderbolt thing would have made that clear.

I was wavering as to whether you were jesting or not. I chose wrong...my bad. Thanks for clearing that up. :hi:

Why are you people freaking out? He's skilled; he's going to be a good RB somewhere. But he was billed as an elite back; comparisons to Herschel Freaking Walker were thrown around. Guys like Walker and Adrian Peterson and Emmitt Smith and even Jamal Lewis don't take a year or two to develop; you know it immediately. And nothing Brown did last year indicated that he's going to be in that class.

He's still likely to be a good back, but his ceiling looks considerably lower than it did when we signed him. It's a loss, but not a crippling one, and at a position at which we can most easily afford one. Vaya con Dios, Brown. Have fun in the dustbowl.
