Basically, I think it's a mentality difference. BB is having a bit of a time adjusting to, in a lot of ways, a completely different game. Gran spoke quite a bit about him (and I'm quoting off of memory, but this quote is the jist of it) when he said "this isn't Kansas anymore. Bryce can't just turn the corner and run for 80 yards any more. He's going to have to pick up those tough yards."

It's easily seen that Poole made the most of every single carry he got and Brown didn't. If he was... he wouldn't have ducked out of bounds. I saw Gran's forehead vein about to burst from all the way up in ZZ.

No one can make a point that Poole is in Brown's category in a raw talent aspect. Brown has NFL RB size and speed as a HS Senior. That's incredibly rare. He did, however, show reluctance in hitting holes between the tackles and physically earning extra yards at the end of runs. Poole will never be flashy, nor will he outrun an SEC defense for a long TD run. He isn't anything of the receiving threat out of the backfield, yada yada yada. But Poole has, unquestionably, bust his a$$ for UT since he's been here.


Plus, Tauren is an awesome name.

This is not a knock on MH in any way as he was awesome for us last year but since you are going Play by Play this is the outcome that MH had while on the field right after Poole was taken off.

1-5-TN36 (13:19) Montario Hardesty rushed for 5 yards.
1-10-TN41 (12:46) Jonathan Crompton passed incomplete to Denarius Moore.
2-10-TN41 (12:39) Jonathan Crompton passed to Gerald Jones for 18 yards.
1-10-VATECH41 (12:13) Montario Hardesty rushed for 3 yards.
2-7-VATECH38 (11:38) TN was penalized 5 yards.
2-12-VATECH43 (11:12) Jonathan Crompton lost 12 yards. Cody Grimm sacked Jonathan Crompton.
3-24-TN45 (10:28) Montario Hardesty rushed for 3 yards.
4-21-TN48 (9:52) Chad Cunningham punted for 52 yards. Touchback

There is a rush for 5, rush for 3, blown block which got QB sacked for 12. Another rush for 3. Poole had two runs for either equal or greater than MH and one for 1yard less. QB got sacked on both sets of downs. Poole was still never seen again. I am in no way saying that Poole should have replaced MH but Poole did prove on the ONE SINGLE drive that he could have atleast given MH a breather. Still, he was never seen again.

volwarrior you are incorrect as well. the sack came on a screen play....the Defensive player came free and got Crompton as he was backpedaling, your bias knows no bounds.

It's not like Hardesty was asking for a breather or that he really had any use for one giving the shortness of our drives.

I could be wrong, but didn't BB do this same thing in high school? I may have the wrong player, but didn't he sit out practice and threaten to transfer for part of the year.. I apoligize up front if I am wrong about that..

So, a coach who removes a player who rose from the field like a 60+ year old 'rassler after doing little more than advancing the ball (read: doing his job) is perceived to be mentally deficient?

Perhaps the coach felt that his juvenile and unwarranted gesticulations (yes, the same which you now seemingly admire him for) which arose fron such uneventful actions was best left on the practice field or buried on the depth chart and not in front of a national television audience?

I guess had he thumped his chest or came down with the atomic leg-drop, you'd think he should have his Jersey retired.

You know as much about evaluating the talent of a collegiate RB as you do discerning who is or is not a military veteran - or as you call them, "bullet sponges", right? Weren't those your words in the deleted thread?

If you're going to base a players string on a single possession - David Leaverton should have been a four-year starting LB.

Dale Jones should have been at WR.

Eric Ainge should have been a majorette.

I would tend to agree with you normally, but Kitten was the coach.. He isn't a normal coach and that is the way he likes for players tro act
