That's not at all what I said or was even implying. I'll quote directly from what I said earlier I'm guessing you jumped right over in your rush to form a conclusion:

Basically, I think it's a mentality difference. BB is having a bit of a time adjusting to, in a lot of ways, a completely different game. Gran spoke quite a bit about him (and I'm quoting off of memory, but this quote is the jist of it) when he said "this isn't Kansas anymore. Bryce can't just turn the corner and run for 80 yards any more. He's going to have to pick up those tough yards."

It's easily seen that Poole made the most of every single carry he got and Brown didn't. If he was... he wouldn't have ducked out of bounds. I saw Gran's forehead vein about to burst from all the way up in ZZ.

No one can make a point that Poole is in Brown's category in a raw talent aspect. Brown has NFL RB size and speed as a HS Senior. That's incredibly rare. He did, however, show reluctance in hitting holes between the tackles and physically earning extra yards at the end of runs. Poole will never be flashy, nor will he outrun an SEC defense for a long TD run. He isn't anything of the receiving threat out of the backfield, yada yada yada. But Poole has, unquestionably, bust his a$$ for UT since he's been here.

Plus, Tauren is an awesome name.
Hypothetically, if both are 100%, does Bryce Brown or Tauren Poole give you the best chance to win?

When Poole came into the VT game he started moving the ball. When he was tackled, he got up like Hulk Hogan with his hands shaking. I'm not making this up. He was then yanked from the game. I'm sorry but that right there shows Kiffin's mental state. Most smart coaches would give a guy who is moving the ball atleast a few more reps to see if maybe the game could be turned around. He never saw the field again. Why would a coach never let a guy see the field again after he moved the chains twice and we had been stuck almost all game up to that on offense?

Their styles are almost completely different but if I had to pick I'd have to put my money behind BB.

He might* take some plays off, but the plays he doesn't take off can get you an 80 yard TD run which TP simply couldn't give you. A combination of the two would be devastating as TP is a pounding, physical runner. If BB stays... and our OL matures this year our running attack could be disgusting next year with both TP and BB.

*it has yet to be seen if his reluctance to be physical at multiple points was a result of his injury or if that's just the style of runner he is. Not all RBs his size are physical guys.

Hard to say he can give you an 80 yard TD when he couldn't pull a 40 yard touchdown all last since even once.

FROM CFN - analysis of TN RB's

Tennessee loaded up on terrific running back recruits over the last few years, and while the loss of Bryce Brown stings talent-wise, it might be a case of addition by subtraction in the locker room. The duo of Poole and Oku should be deadly, and Neal is a great one waiting in the wings. The offense will rely on the ground game to carry the mail, and the chances will be there for everyone get plenty of work.

What do you think of this?

I still would like to see Brown back, but found this analysis interesting.

The majority of the team would disagree with that statement.

CFN has been crap for a long, long time.

There is no way losing BB is a positive in any way. It might be of little impact... but we'll have to see how TP/Oku do instead of BB/TP/Oku.

Basically someone is trying to write something in a nice way so us rabid Vol fans will read it. I hope this is true but there's no way you can say it is right now. I suspect most will be lamenting Brown's departure if he leaves by mid-season. I'm not saying he can do better than these guys will do... but many will be desperately looking for some "what if" scenario by which the season would have gone better.

UT may be better than I expect... but I look for some serious growing pains early on.

Poole had two good runs for a combined 13 yards. He then got the ball and was tripped up for a two yard gain on first down. On second down he missed a block that caused Crompton to be sacked. On third down he dropped a pass. After that sequence Kiffin went back to his most reliable offensive player, shame on him.

Losing BB will be a positive in the locker room. Ripped-up polo boy(reveiz) can say they would welcome him back with open arms but I think those backs that sweated and bled in the spring would feel differently. Too much room for a cancer outbreak IMO.

Now why would you use facts like that? Are you suggesting that maybe Kiffin didn't have an anti-Poole agenda? Crazy talk.

As long as when BB comes back he realizes he's going to have to work his way back onto the roster and work to battle for the starting job back... no problem. He needed to get some things straightened out with his home and family and I doubt, highly, that any player would hold that against him once his decision has been rendered and he shows a commitment to it. That directly defies the "family" aspect that DD, Chris Walker, Reviez and other player leaders have mentioned.

If he comes back with an attitude and thinks, because he's talented and was the #1 player coming out of HS that he's owed the starting job... yeah, there will be problems. I'm sure DD, Chaney, etc have made this very clear to him.

Too many "ifs" for a guys who's time on The Hill has been sketchy, at best.

What "problems" is he fixing at home? If his Dad needs his 18 year old kid to fix their problems, they probably aren't fixable. I call shenanigans on that crap.

The previous staff made tons of promises to him, then bailed on him. I say everybody just cut their losses and Bryce stay in Kansas.

DD said BB had some personal problems to resolve at home. His brother wants to play ball with him at KSU. Rumors of pregnant girlfriend swirled around here if I recall. Plus, BB probably does feel pretty dejected towards UT for what he was told by Kiffin then Kiffin jumping ship. Let him get his head straight and then if he comes back... he better be 110% on board and committed.

DD is giving him time to make his decision because he doesn't want to pressure or force him into doing something his mind, body and soul aren't behind. There really aren't too many ifs, ands or buts about it. BB is a very talented player we could definitely use... and we'll welcome him back if he decides UT is the right fit for him.

I would welcome him back but we better see a level of humility and hard work that have yet to be seen.

That's what I iterated earlier as what the team would, and should, absolutely expect. If that happens, Brown is a tremendous addition to the team.
