If he wants to stay then I say let him stay. I dont see the point in trying to re recruit him though. I am sorry hes already been recruited. He has been in practice and in the locker room with the new coach. He knows whats here for him if he wants to stay. I say let him go if hes not fully into being here. I think he could prove to be a great RB here. But he has to have some want to in him.

I don't think the question is if Dooley will let him stay. From what I have read the invitation has always been there. I just don't think Dooley is willing to kiss his a** to get him to stay.

Yet Hardesty started every game and got almost 80% of the total carries last year. Who recruited him again?

Your recruit over the starter is different than your recruit over the realistic #2 back. You're not risking as much by placing your recruit over a more deserving player when it's for a #2 spot on the depth chart.

If your theory about Kiffin showing favoritism to his recruits had one iota of truth to it, why was Janzen Jackson the only Kiffin recruit who was a regular starter?

And LOL at splitting hairs over who gets 20% of the total carries in a season.

I don't think begging at the feet of one player to come back would "earn the respect" of the players (who have stayed without drama) which is obviously something cares a lot about.

ESPN insider Twitter posted this link, I can't access it - anyone know what it says?

The latest on Bryce Brown: College Football Rumors - Rumor Central -NCAA - ESPN
about 21 hours ago via web

It just states what we've known since March. Brown is still enrolled but leaning heavily towards leaving. It says K-State seems to be the most logical destination...cites brother as he main reason. Also mentions the restrictions Dooley put on AD: no SEC school and must be atleast an 8 hour drive.

ESPN is always WAAAYYYY behind on its CFB news. I only have Insider because it was free with my scrip to the mag.

I guess I just don't see the big deal in trying to at least converse with him about coming back to UT because when players are HS juniors and seniors coaches and recruiters pucker up all the time.

He does not want to be at Tennessee... he has made that clear, and hasn't even given Dooley a chance. Dooley would "love to have kept him and Douglas in the system for at least a year, then shake hands if they still didn't want to be a part of the team."(paraphrase) Do not waste valuable time on trying to get BB to come back. It is nothing short of Futile.

I don't think that Bryce Brown knows what he wants. If he could be convinced to stay, then he could just do it and move on. If he wants to leave, then that's fine. Whatever he does, he should be a man and make his own decision or he may regret it forever.

CDD's response was perfect.

It would show a lot of weakness to beg a scholarship player to stay. Additionally, what would that do to the locker room dynamics? Clearly he's welcome to join the team, but expecting to be re-courted by the new staff is ludicrous. He's either a Vol or he's not.

For one thing, a percentage of them were getting suspened and/or kicked off the team.

But, I never theorized about Kiffin favoring his recruits for starting positions. I theorized about Kiffin placing his recruits higher on the depth chart (BB at #2). I agree that Kiffin started the best back (Hardesty). #2 may have only received 20% of the carries last season, but #2 gets more reps in practice and more opportunity to shine once the starter leaves or becomes injured.

Playing "If I were Dooley", I would give Mr Brown a call after exams to see how he stands. If he wants to come back, we start the reconciliation process; if he declines, we eternally part ways. No need to beg.

Agreed. You don't beg the girl who just dumped you to take you back. She won't respect you. She may take you back, but you'll be her doormat.

Bryce made a decision long ago. The only reason he's at UT this semester is so he doesn't have to sit out an extra year for transferring in the middle of the school year.

BB has cancer written all over him since he doesn't want to be here.......kind of reminds me of the whole "There ain't no I in the word TEAM.....yet there ain't no WE either." If he wanted to man up and be a true teammate he would of done it by now IMO.....wish him the best but obviously it ain't here.

If he re-recruits him that would send a signal to the rest of the that he's chasing after a guy who doesn't want to be part of the team. He's done what he should do IMO- He has left the door open and tried to explain why he thinks it would be best for him to stay.

BTW, that's the second time that Dooley has made an indirect comment that supports the idea that BB thought he should be #1 without having to earn it.

It's not like it would be that difficult. His competition consists of a true freshman, a guy who has only been effective as a kick returner thus far, a guy coming off major knee surgery, and a junior who hasn't accomplished anything of significance to date.

Deluded for so many reasons.
