poole, oku, and williams will handle the load just fine. Brown goes down on the first hit and uses his giant ego for padding.

poole is like hardesty only with more breakaway speed, everyone will see this year even if ur line is fresh

i hope youre right but am not sure poole has more top end speed than hardesty

When will bryce make his final decision about transferring? I heard he's still doing an evaluation of the coaches before he decides.

His 10 carries last year made a big impression on you I see...never seen so many people so sure a guy can " carry the load ".

He may be able to, but you guys act like it is a sure thing, this isn't directed at you specifically...I'm just not sold on a guy from what I have seen ( which is 10 carries ).

If he doesn't bleed Orange (he doesn't) then let him take his ego elsewhere. Dooley is in charge and I like the message he is sending.

If I was running the show Bryce would already have his walking papers. Unless he was injured I can't see letting him sit out the spring and just come back to the team when he's wants to. But I'm not running the show, so I'll leave it up to the coach.

Who (if you'd pay attention) said that hed consider it ONLY after talking to HIS TEAM about it, and "ASKING THEM IF THEY WANT HIM".

Why do I get the feeling that the vocal majority is setting themselves up to be upset with the Poole situation. I'm not doubting his talent, but like it was stated above, some of you guys have already given him 1500 and 25.

I agree. I don't get it either.

I don't get how some "know" Dooley will fail.

I don't get how some "know" we will lose at LSU.

I don't get why some are still "kissing" Lanes butt.

I don't get why some think Phil would make a good AD.

I don't get why some have to constantly cry, biach and moan about what they "don't get".

It's not about Poole, he has the attributes to be a very productive runner. He was going to start this year regardless of Browns decision. The problem is the offensive line, and teams stacking the box to try and force us to throw.

I dont see why we would re recruit a kid thats already on campus. He has has plenty of time to make a decision on this coaching staff. I think Poole is getting love because he has worked hard and stayed with it. Last year if you remember Poole was pretty upset with the coaching staff due to lack of playing time. Yet he stuck with it and will more than likely be the starter this year. Maybe if Brice saw the writing on the wall with Poole. Maybe his hip injury is worse than any of us really know. Wasnt it noted last year of him having a degenerative hip problem?

If he wants to bolt, good riddance. We shouldn't make another spectacle of his departure. His signing offered more than enough coverage to boost his ego. The guy sounds like a prima donna all around. I'm not about to kiss his butt for one of the easiest positions to play. Taking the punishment isn't easy but most people are capable of running while holding something in their hands. There is an entire event in the special olympics that revolves around carrying a baton while running. It's called a relay race.

If Brown wants to leave, so be it. He was given the back up role without Kiffin giving the other backs a chance. Now that he is off the team, the guys backing him up will give it there all because they have a legit shot at playing now. My guess is at least one of them will take advantage of that. I gave Hardesty a lot of crap prior to the season but he was a beast. I want a guy that will play with heart. Not an over pampered baby that relies on talent.

Wow... he's doing an evaluation... If true, is that what it's come to? His 'evaluation period' ended when he signed with UT...

Dooley is doing the right thing...

My take...last season when he ran the ball to me he looked more like a fullback trying to play tailback. Yes he was new and yes there were line issues and yes he was still in learning mode, as were the Lane train coaching staff. If he wants to act like Rickey Williams fine, I just hope he can run like him. I'm very sure coach Dooley WILL put the best back in the starting line-up if it's bryce fine if it aint pack your bags for Kansas cool breeze and lets get on with Vols business. I'm so tired of these prima donna athletes playin games.

I don't think you can be. I really like Poole and "hope" he is as good on game day as he has consistently been in practice over the past two years.

Problem with your apparent argument is- there weren't enough good reasons to be sold on BB either and he had many more opportunities. He had the HS accolades... he had the raw skills. But running up the backs of blockers, being relatively easy to tackle, and failing to see cut back lanes won't get it done anywhere and especially not in the SEC. Most of his stats came against weaker opponents and mop up. He wasn't very effective against the better D's for the most part.

Why would you make a list of things you don't get, and then sum it up by saying you don't get why people complain about things they "don't get".

I don't get it.

Am I missing something with Tauren Poole? Never seen a guy get so much love over 10 carries.

He was the only effective RB vs VT. He has consistently made big plays in practice over the past two years. He consistently outperformed Brown in practice... who STILL got the PT last year.

In his rare opportunities, he's shown flashes of what you want in a RB. In all of his opportunities, he's shown the kind of character you want on your team. No one outworks him. He's confident, maybe even cocky... but he isn't a prima donna. He wants what he's worked for and working to earn.

So yeah. I find it easier to be a fan of a guy who has done nothing but work and perform since arriving... a guy who continued to work just as hard though it was apparent that a guy who didn't perform as well in practice was getting PT over him. Poole said he even confronted Kiffin over it and Kiffin wouldn't say that Brown was more deserving... just that it was his decision.

He's been beaten down... but he's still there, still working, still performing... rather than "evaluating".

I think it's more because of what Hardesty did last season. Hardesty had never really showed anything except in practices and mop up duty (partly due to his injuries) until last season when he finally got an opportunity to be the primary back. Poole is looking great in practices this year just as Hardesty did at this time last year. Poole also "supposedly" looked good last season behind Hardesty last year as Hardesty had in past seasons behind Foster and Coker. It could be false hopes, but I think Hardesty of last season and Poole's similar results to this point this preseason has many Vol fans hoping (not expecting) big things for Poole.

I dont even know why VOLS fans are so butt hurt over this matter. Last year when he signed, Vols were not even in the hunt for his recruitment. It was a shock to see he actually signed. But he did not sign his name in behest of Tennessee, but for Coach LAME X. Anytime a recruit wants to play for a coach, it does not bode well for the school in the end. Eric Berry was a class act. He came to UT to play for UT. Looking at his play last year, he was not the running back everybody thought he would be. I am still skeptical of his play. He played in Kansas in HS which is a JOKE. If he was really that good, Hardesty would not have had 80% of the carries. I think he is indecisive when it comes to hitting the holes. In college sometimes you have to take what you can get for a play especially if there is nothing there.
I say let Tauren Poole show what he can do. I would give Poole more opportunities since he has stuck with Tennessee. He never complained. That is the true character of a teammate. When called upon you come give your all for Tennessee. Bryce cares for Bryce. His recruitment was shady, and now his leaving is creating a media frenzy. I think we have spent way too much time on this subject. I say good riddance and lets go Tauren Poole. GO VOLS!!!

I really like Poole. He seems to break alot of nice runs... but he does not have more speed than Hardesty. MH was slowed at times by injuries creating a perception that he was power rather than speed but he posted a 10.7 100m in HS. That's not much slower than Demps.

there is a huge difference in 10.7 and 10.01 seconds. I ran a 10.7 in high school and still got smoked by people like Adarius Bowman, Daniel and Josh Bullocks, and Willie Idlette. Gerald Riggs ran a 10.6 in high scool too. track speed is kind of overrated.
