Nope the current staff can only take credit for Reggie Bush, Lendale White, and BenJarvis Green-Ellis. Nobody has ever heard of any of those guys though.
1) How do you figure that? Kiffin was the WR coach and then passing coordinator before becoming OC for 2 years on Chow's coat-tails.
2) Reggie Bush has yet to really have a break-out year. Kind of lends to what I have said about some backs being cut out for specialty roles in the NFL, regardless of their college performance, doesn't it?
3) White is a good NFL back, imo. I have always said from the beginning that he would turn out to be the more productive NFL back due to his running style. But, obviously, Kiffin had very little to do with his development.
4) Green-Ellis? You mean the 4th string RB:

Why are you even comparing the Pac 10 to the SEC?
Lol. I haven't. Why are you? Or, actually, I should say, why has it taken an SEC fan in any football argument whatsoever to do so?
lets compare this years classes:
Yes. Let's compare the classes, the performance and the strength of schedule.
With their mighty SEC influenced class, UT went 5-7. Oregon, with their poor Pac-10 scraps went 10-3. UT lost to Wyoming... Wyoming.
According to the Sagarin rankings, Oregon's strength of schedule was ranked #22. UT's, in the tough SEC? #31

Perhaps the SEC-sided favoritism in the rivals rankings has something to do with the site being started and run by Alabama fans. The results of such rankings has been hit and miss at best. Ever notice how some recruits are ranked low and then suddenly gain a star or two once certain schools give them an offer?
He is operating under the guise of being reasonable, but he is no less/more of a homer than anyone else around here. His act is fake.
I'm not being a homer when the facts coincide with my statements. If the Ducks went 5-7 last year and weren't the 3rd most productive running team in the nation, I wouldn't have much to argue for in the Brown debate.
I could see Brown going to Miami or USC, but Oregon is just not where a back of that caliber should gamble on his career.
If he keeps his nose clean, this guy will be a first rounder
A first rounder like Jonathan Stewart?
I think you have the gamble backward. At Oregon, there is a precedence for their current staff (as it was for Stewart) for sending an RB off in the first round. I'm not saying that UT couldn't do the same. But, there is no precedence. Only the hope of past success in previous, different situations. In my view, that makes it more of a gamble. I think Kiffin stands a decent chance of being yanked before any 2009 recruits even make it to the draft.
Smith wasn't a very good NFL back, period. Yards per carry is a horrible guage when trying to grade him. He had 231 total attempts. I remember one of the knocks on him coming out of college (like so many RB's) was the he wasn't an every down back. He couldn't run between the tackles very well. As it happened, that was case in the NFL. He was used as a back-up, because he was back-up material.
Again, being the go-to guy in 3rd down situations is not backing anyone up. I agree that he was not an every down back. It doesn't matter what school he went to, he was never going to be an every down back. But, he was consistently productive situationally. Thus, he was still a valuable back and showed skills useful in the NFL.
At this point, I'm going to have to call disingenuous. You guys have to know football enough to understand the difference between back-ups and situational backs.
