Oh, wherefore art thou, oh much maligned receptacle of refuse? How indeed will our coaches motivate our defensive players to be aggressive and create turnovers without being rewarded with the chance to run to the sideline and drop the ball in the garbage? How could someone with CJP's defensive experience have missed the opportunity to utilize this iconic addition which so aptly represents the entire season of Team 121? Surely all of Volnation misses the TrashCan just as much as I do and has just as high of a regard for it?

Ok, yes, so that was a bit of clickbait :p But really, I am so glad we have a coach now that focuses on fundamentals instead of crap like this trashcan - or 3rd down for what or any other thing but being focused on destroying our opponents. Morale comes from confidence earned on the field that is derived from competence that is earned in practice. I dont know if Pruitt will succeed this year (or ever) but I am glad at least that he is not trying to cover up a lack of coaching skills with hokey gimmicks.

It was only Game 1, but crazy how much that GIF ended up summarizing the entire season.

Though, ironically, the comeback against GT (from which the GIF comes) was pretty much the only good thing that happened.

Anything associated with Butch I want no part of.
I always envisioned one of our defensive guys getting hurt dunking a football in that stupid trash can.

I thought is was appropriate how we would throw their game ball in the garbage. Their ball was garbage and their team was garbage.

What do you do with garbage?

Throw it in a garbage can.

So many missed the point that the garbage can was for the other team’s garbage.

Maybe we should have used a recycle bin for all the sensitive sport fans.

They could have mounted a BB goal for them to slam dunk the turnover balls.

The trash can wasn’t quite as bad as Dooley’s orange dog, but it was more public, so it was more embarrassing.

I do not think the problem of the trash can was the misunderstanding of it's meaning. It was a gimmick employed by a coach known mostly for corny gimmicks and cliches and ultimately was more fitting as a representation of the 2017 team and their coach.

The turnover trash can doesn’t come close to the turnover chain, turnover road warrior shoulder pads or turnover WWE belt that other teams use to celebrate turnovers.

I don’t knock the players from last year. They did all that could be expected considering everybody knew what we were going to do on offense and defense.

It wasn’t for the “other team’s garbage”....it was for our players to use in celebration of a good or “splash” play. That’s why we saw our players “dunk” the football after a good play/turnover vs GaTech.

I’ve seen the ball we use it has a Power T on the ball. Once you put the Ga Tech symbol on a ball, the ball becomes garbage.

Celebrate our good ply and throw out their garbage at the same time.

I vote no. When it was still a thing, I rocked it as my avatar for a couple of weeks, just to support the team, but it didn't take long before
I realized just about anything would have been better than a waste bin. That's about the time internet memes of it started making their rounds.

The only reason it was seen as a gimmick is because the team was not good. When the team is actually creating turnovers and winning games it hypes up the team. But when your team is terrible its a gimmick. People worry about entirely to many things that they shouldn't. Had we went 10-2 with the best defense in the country it would have been seen as brilliant.
