If u havent played sports in college then u dont understand..Most kids would rather go home then playing in a BS low tier bowl game..Trust me..Im not saying that was the case tonight but I can guarantee they would rather go home
You are right. Half the kids on the field tonight fought hard to play in a bowl. Unfortunately for us, they were wearing black.

Vandy had more talent then us....lol. Why is jt not okay to acknowledge pruitt didnt do a very good job tonight and leading up to tonight?

Never said that Pruitt and staff couldn't have done better. There's always room for improvement. But after watching these guys all year, if you think our starting 22 are so much better than Vandy's much less Mizzou's you need to wake up.

Be careful not to base your opinion of their talent level and how good they are solely on their average recruiting rank...

Does a team consist of a starting 22?

Not a drinker. Don’t drink unless it’s socially in moderation.

I couldn’t possibly disagree more with the drivel you just wrote. 2 “good wins” for Pruitt this year vs how bad, embarrassing losses? Any goodwill he built up after Auburn and Ky are long gone given 88-30 vs Mizzou and Vandy the last 2 weeks.

And this crap about JG....after all the ish we witnessed, at every position the entire season, you go straight (and incredibly lazily) at the one player who was easily our best, most consistent offensive player? JG was awful today, but the rest of the year he was easily our offensive MVP, nobody was anywhere close. And he’s the guy you go at? Lol. Come on 44, be better than that.
I think that you’re wrong and emotional.

Obviously not, just as each team is so much more than their collective recruiting ranking.. This Vandy team, that is supposed to be so bad, played Notre Dame (playoff bound) to the wire. Anybody that thought, after seeing the way UT players have performed all season, that Vandy wasn't more than capable of beating our a$$ is seriously in denial. Regarding Missouri, they are simply better than us.

For me, the jury is still out on Pruitt. He's a young head coach and is learning. The big elephant in the room is the really bad team he inherited. A team that has not had a legitimate S&C program for two years. A team that has not been made to tow the line for two years. A team that has learned more about how to quit than how to win for two years.. For better or worse, it's what he had to work with. History that's yet to be written will tell us if he did a better job this year than most think at present.

Maybe Pruitt should tuck them in and give them bottles with warm milk at bedtime. If you are so fragile you can't handle being called out whether in public or wherever, you probably shouldn't be playing football. Thank God I played in the 70's and 80's, the boo hoo my feelings are hurt mentality is pathetic.

It’ll be good to have some time to get over the emotions and just come together and wrap up a good recruiting class, one that is much needed! Hope we can get some surprises because this is where football is won or lost.

This is where you and I completely disagree.

THE TRUTH is that it is actually the OPPOSITE. He has his players' and his teams' BEST INTEREST at heart because he CARES enough to CORRECT THEM. It is actually WISE to allow players to feel shame about their pathetic performances. IF they don't have the work ethic to do the necessary things required to get better and perform in an acceptable manner--then they do not deserve their scholarship.

These guys have to comply with academic standards of performance, and they have athletic standards, too.

You're wasting your breath here, sir because the coaches and teachers in my life that earned my respect and admiration were always those who refused to encourage and cajole mediocrity in my performance. The man who taught me how to play baseball actually played with Willie McCovey and always said to out entire team: "boys, if I didn't care about you, I'd never say anything to correct you or motivate you to get better."

He never hesitated to correct us, but he also never hesitated to praise us, too!

CJP had done BOTH of those things for the VOLS this year.
You guys have chosen to forget what CJP said after the UGA game--how he praised his team in the loss for their resolve and refusal to give up and to keep fighting. Why doesn't CJP get any credit now for that? He's the same Coach that he's been all this year. And he's coaching the same way now that he did then.

I know that I'm too abrasive in my comments some times, but there's a couple of things that you seem to believe that I will NEVER accept.

1. It's NOT a LACK of caring concern for a coach to point out mistakes and failures in the performances of his players--it actually PROVES THAT HE CARES; and
2. It's NEVER acceptable TO RESENT the ONE in authority for poor performances in his subordinates. Losers do that.

You and those like you make a sport out of violating these two RULES. And that's just the way it is because, unlike the way our society has now trained a generation--they don't hand out participation trophies for just showing up in the real world.

Amen Mike! Facts don’t care about feelings. Fact is, when football is over, life will teach you the hard way that mediocrity isn’t acceptable. Better that someone shows compassion through correction now...the world won’t care what sport you played after your paying days are over...

Pruitt didnt do a good job this year. Vandy was a 5-6 team that blew us out. Its really that simple. It's his job to ensure the team is prepped and ready to play, they werent.

Pruitt and staff played guys they knew where dogging it? Doesn't seem like something Pruitt would do.

At least the new pla
And what do you think Pruitt is gonna do with 75 players? Couldn’t do **** with what he had this year, got worse as they went along. Hell, OL and RBs still has no earthly idea who to block in game 12. Defense was horrific all throughout the year, never got better. It’s incredibly naive and pollyanish to believe that Pruitt will do **** with any marginal new players he may bring in. I’m 100% out on him until he 100% proves me wrong. The last 2 weeks completely erased any good will he might have earned for the Auburn and Kentucky wins for me. Zero faith that he’s the guy.

At least the new players will try, and hopefully not be a bunch of pu$$ie$ like some on the current team.

Yea, ok... You want to blame it all on Pruitt. That's your opinion. I'm not absolving Pruitt of all blame. I just happen to believe in this case it's more on the players he inherited. I may end up being wrong. If I am, I will admit it. I'm sorry you're not willing to accept that, right now, Vandy and especially Mizzou have better TEAMS than UT.

Vandy is 6-6.

I know that. That's not my point. My point is that we should have been more motivated because the only way we get to a bowl is going 6-6 and they would have probably gone to a bowl game if the lost to us to make them 5-7. We flat out played uninspired football.

And the reason the have better teams is because ours is/was poorly coached. For vandy anyway.

There are enough 6-6 teams to fill the bowls.

It does if the dog is still the best you have. Pruitt was wanting to win. Problem is, doesnt look like 1/2 team wanted it. I feel sad for the rest of the team who did want it.

I will take Mason would be a good hire for Tennesssee..His teams always play hard

This makes absolutely no sense. You just got through saying the players didn't want to go to a lower tier bowl yet now you are saying a different coach will change that. I'm not putting it all on the players, but the attitude that you are describing is on them. I couldn't care less if they been "grinding" all year or not. Have some pride for a change and quit feeling sorry for themselves.
