The more I see various tweets and supposed feedback from those on the team or close to it, the more I get the feeling that a significant portion (maybe 5 or 10 players) of the players actively sandbagged the last 2 games so that they would not go bowling. While we as fans, think a bowl game (even a toilet bowl), would be awesome, not just for the game but for all the extra practices which we sorely need. But what if some players dont want those extra practices? By all accounts, CJP and the S&C staff are more demanding than last years regime. Could it be that guys got used to sitting on their fat asses last year and didnt want to give up their holidays, nor did they want the tough practices or continual workouts? They just wanted to coast on their scholly and suck up the benefits while they can.
I think the coaches cant avoid responsibility for the garbage we saw in the last few weeks but if the above is true, it perhaps makes things more understandable to me. It also would explain a lot of Pruitt's comments and why a team who can beat two ranked SEC teams, can barely beat Charlotte and gets crushed by VANDY. All it takes is 1-2 guys on an 11 man line up to not care about winning, maybe even secretly hoping to lose, and you utterly destroy any ability to make plays (1 gap in the line, 1 missed tackle, is all that is needed).
I hope this isnt the case but I strongly suspect it is, and if so, Pruitt needs to clean house - meaning, even if we dont have the full roster of schollys. Better to have only young players who WANT TO BE HERE and WANT TO WIN than more "experienced" losers who want neither. And by clean house, I mean get rid of EVERYONE who doesnt have a motor on full blast. It is one thing not to have the natural talent, it is quite another not to have the drive. Those players are poisons ("canceers") that cannot be allowed to infect the locker room.
