Look, the kid should not have said it the way he did. In the World we live in you need to be very precise with your words or it can ruin your life. I do believe he had his head in the right place in defending his teammates. Have we all not done some crap that we regret, or said something we did not think all the way through? All this is stemming from the fact that we have a dysfunctional product on the field, and we all (players and fans alike) care deeply for this special shade of orange. Tennessee is so special because of the fiercely loyal fans, and few places can have players on a losing team be propped up like a god, such as JJ, or Eric Berry was. What players need to realize though is that respect is not just given it does need to be earned, and what fans need to realize is that disrespect is not deserved yet we so readily give it.
