Brian Maurer throwing shade on twitter

Are we sure of that? Or was this a response to one of those idiots that seems to think it's cool to message players and recruits they don't even know?

I don't know. I don't do social media. Maybe somebody can answer that question.

I am curious as to what the context was in that tweet as well.

Still think its a bad idea to come out with a statement like that and I personally would never follow or try to interact with these kids on social media.

They have enough pressure on them without jackasses stalking them on FB and Twitter

This seems to be the pattern with the players on this team. No respect for the fans. We saw that this summer with Trey Smith’s comment. They have no clue that we were here long before them and will be long after they leave. But if they want it that way.... ✌🏼
I agree that it appears to be a pattern with the players. Their head coach isn't really any better, and I believe he is setting a poor example for the players.

I agree, he should of bit his tongue, sat on his hands, anything but fire up social media.. Equally bad is the lynch mob mentality towards the guy mainly because everyone is in a bad mood because we suck..

It’s got to be crazy. I played NAIA golf in college which is about the bottom of the totem pole when it comes to college athletics and the time management demands just from that we’re hard to get used to. I can’t imagine all of that plus the mental and physical pressures of big time football AND the fan scrutiny.

I cant either which is an even better reason why I would strong recommend to these kids to stay off social media were I in a position to make such a recommendation.

Yeah thats easy to recommend.
Human nature (in a lot of people) wants to know what people think about them. Good and bad.

Its a little easier for most people (like me). Nobody cares enough to have an opinion.

I mean we've seen this song and dance routine countless times. Once the players start to openly attack the fanbase on social media, it's time to move on to a new coach. Clearly, things are not well in the locker room. If anyone thinks Pruitt's time at Tennessee is salvageable after the numerous signs from the season, you're helpless.

I can hear all the money rushing out of the University.....swoosh. Better ways to throw some shade. What are they teaching at UT these days, how to meltdown like a snowflake? Good grief. At least VN gives a lot of fans a place to commiserate. I don’t think playing for free, free education, and we taxpayers and fans funding this “team”, qualifies a part time QB to tell us this isn’t our team. No disrespect.
I guess the part time QB is throwing shade @ the part time fans. Got some bad news for ya, the stands will be as full as is permitted, every game. Personally as an adult who has lost both parents, seen kids struggle, had friends family's bust up, had businesses go bust, my country battle a pandemic, etc... since the good ole days of the 90's, for some reason football kinda takes a back seat to me these days. I love to see them play well, either way I enjoy my hotdog, go back to my car and drive home. I guess I just don't get what really matters anymore. I do appreciate getting reminded every now and then, tough times never last, tough people always seem to.

Worse than what Jennings said regarding Hoke.

Why, Because Jennings was RIGHT about that loser staff.

Meanwhile Maurer is frustrated with the current staff (as evidenced through his proxy that posts here) but lacks the nuts to take his frustration to it's source.

So he lashes out at fans. Kind of cowardly, but he's an overly emotional and sensitive dude.

I understand his point but if it wasn’t for the fans none of that would be happening. At any school.
So maybe he can understand our frustration

Some have been fans for 40+ years, and alumni. He's neither. Out butts in seats, apparel bought from hard work and some years from family count for something in my in my book. And I have gotten to our military fans.

You clearly don’t know him and underestimate him as a result.

He needs to grow up and realize he entered the public arena, he should be prepared for criticism, frankly I wish we would shut down the program and use Neyland as parking for students if there is not a solid commitment to winning by making a financial obligation to the program. Stop gap coaches only diminish further the once proud program
