Brian Maurer throwing shade on twitter

The funds come from a pool. And many different sources feed that pool. Not just fans.

However!

Fans are customers ultimately. And the customer is ALWAY$ right....

Ok, they get TV money. Where does TV money come from? Fans. IT wont be there if fans dont watch.
Radio rights?.....fans
They get ticket money...fans
They get royalties on apparel, etc....fans
Concessions....fans
Donations...fans

Im struggling to come up with money that doesnt involve fans.

Honestly, people should stop supporting the university financially. Let everyone get the message that the fans are the major financial contributors and are tired of paying for a lousy product. I’m done purchasing UT gear and going to games. It’s my alma matter, and I won’t be making any donations either. I’m tired of this clown show.
Been saying this for a while. They don't get my money anymore. I've even started to not watch on TV (mainly because I just don't like bad football).. I'll always pull for them though, I guess it's just in my blood at this point.

I have no issue with it if he's responding to some douchebag tagging him in a Twitter post (which I think is what happened? Maybe I'm wrong). Most of us would have probably said something worse at that age.

This is where the HC should limit and control the players with social media. I do get his frustration. Attacking the fanbase is a terrible idea though. At the end of the day put a better product on the field and the fans have little to gripe about. It would be somewhat different if the losses were even close. Six losses by double digits. KY beat you by 27 points at home. Yeah read that again. 27 point loss to KY at Neyland.

I didn't see that one but saw "After all he did this how they treat him. Cold world" tweet referring to JG.

Fact of the matter is being QB at Tennessee isn't for everyone. It's a tough position. Win and you're a hero. Lose and you're, well, a loser. These young men (they aren't kids, they're old enough to join the military) knew what they were signing up for. It takes thick skin to be QB at Tennessee and right now Brian's is looking pretty thin. If they aren't willing to endure criticism, maybe they should consider a transfer to a place like UCF or Florida Atlantic.

He might need to rethink this position. I'd think he should be happy that anyone outside that locker room wants to claim this dumpster fire as "their team." These kids clearly do not understand the tradition and what it means to wear that uniform. Thus the lackluster play, slow starts, and lack of ANY fire. After breaking records of how bad UT sucks, he could have less attitude. Maybe we should buy them all championship rings and participation trophies.

SO much to discuss here, but this is a 20 year old kid. I cut him some slack.

That said, VERY few posts here attack our players. I personally, for example, have nothing but positive things to say about JG personally, I have just questioned his ability to be a SEC QB. My 'blame' is focused on the folks running things....you know, like JP, PF, etc.

A lot of fans have already 'voted' with their feet, and if we keep staying this course, many, many more will do so. Then, all you sunshine pumpers won't have all those demanding fans to deal with anymore.

But, but, but...

...we don't have any affect on players or recruits! They have no idea what's happening on VN.com, or that other site, or the call-in radio stations, or twitter or facebook. They don't know what the fans are saying. We're free to be divisive and negative and hateful and petty all we want, right?

Right?

Thank you, Brian Maurer, you just proved wrong every person on this board who claims what we say here doesn't matter.

It does matter. The lads are listening.

Be unhappy at a bad product, sure, but accept responsibility for HOW you show your unhappiness.

Stop the hate. Stop the pettiness. Grow up. Be mature. Provide critical observation and analysis, sure, of both coaches and players, but do it as if you were criticizing a loved one. Be measured and respectful in your criticism. Be fair.

The youth of our program are watching and considering carefully every word you say.

Dear Brian,
The term Fan is short for Fanatic. Look up the definition, it will explain perfectly.

I like what he said. People on here that criticize these players each week, he is talking to you.

I am not sure which is worse, being upset with fans for expecting better results or pretending a tweet from a 20 year old will impact someone else's life who isn't a thirteen year old girl.

He can talk to me all he wants. Most grown men don't care what he thinks. Players at places like Tennessee take a lot of heat... they also receive a lot of benefits. Life-long benefits. If you're not willing to take the heat in order to receive the benefits, go somewhere else. I don't care.
