25-8 vs 16-21....

The records the three seasons prior...makes me want Petrino and not worry about Bielema

Butch is flashier and fun to follow. Bielema is boring. Bielema is a better all around coach and better with the x's and o's.

Bielema's the best quote among all SEC coaches. Dude actually is outspoken and has a personality. Butch on the other hand is a boring, monotonous cliche machine IMO.

Agree about Bielema being a better coach.

Obviously both Butch Jones and Bret Bielema have struggled to get their teams on track in year 5, but which coach is the biggest failure and which coach will return to coach their respective teams in 2018?

Bielema is 29-31 overall, 11-26 in the SEC

Butch Jones is 34-26 overall, 12-23 in the SEC

Butch Jones has arguably has had more talent to work with than has Bielema, according to recruiting averages.

Butch Jones is the bigger failure. He's in the SEC East which has been very weak most of his 5 years. That said, I believe both are canned.

No question it is Bielema.

Plays in the West and took over as difficult a situation as Jones.

Jones hasn't done anything when compared to other coaches in the SEC to earn the privilege to coach the Vols another season. He has done less with more than any coach in the conference other than possibly Sumlin. Only reason it's still even a discussion is the feckless leadership in Knoxville.

Why do we measure talent on high school ratings and not where NFL drafts players after they finish college? Seems like that would be more accurate barometer. Ark has more than held its own vs Tennessee in that comparison.

Both Coaches are in year 4 at their respective schools, which coach has done the best job?

honestly, i'd say Butch. UT was in worse shape when he got here, and Butch didn't have near the resume BB did when he took the ARK job.

so from what you had to work with at the program, combined with "who you were" when you got the job, i'd say most could have reasonably expected BB to do better than CBJ, relatively speaking that is.

and as i say this, i don't think the gap is very wide. it's shrunk considerably just due to the differences in the divisions they compete in.

but CBJ has out recruited BB, and did get to 9 wins twice...., and BB's best finish has been 8-5, and only won 3 games in year 1....

and both will be in the unemployment line, rightfully so.

Lyle has had much better recruits, and played in a far weaker division, yet has done no better than BB.

That would measure the product, but not what they started with. Jones does less with more better than anyone else.

I have to go with the crew cut to the West with the hot wife and near identical record in a tougher division.

Sorry to all the Butch acolytes.

You guys have pretty low standards if having fake blonde hair and being height-weight proportionate is all that it takes to be considered "hot" in your books.

Not going to engage in fake blonde shaming as you have just done.

You expect us to believe you live in Appalachia? Anybody at their ideal weight really stands out in my opinion.

Are Bielema and Jones both, just mid to lower tier coaches in the SEC?

I don't know how jones could be considered lower tier, based on today's numbers from this season, he is bottom tier. When you look at SEC play (we're still an SEC TEAM, I think) we are scraping the bottom along with vandy.
