BREAKING: Cuonzo to Cal

well that'll be twisted into his feelings hurt, couldn't get a plane, wife hit on, rebel flags thrown on his lawn, and what ever other bull**** comes with it.

I tell you guys whats happened. A business decision was made by Martin and Hart and it was for fresh starts for both asap. I'm glad we get a new start now with a new coach because we were starting over anyway with the same old play good for 25 games of 75 and bore us to death the rest of the time. I'm glad we start now because he was going to be on the hot seat next year and the year after and gone. He knew it. Hart knew it. And they nipped it in the bud. 2 pretty smart men.
So now Hart, go get somebody that knows how to coach offense, use a pg, recruit a shooter every year or 3, and communicate with his team and those around the program and I don't care who it is.

This. I was willing to give him another year or two after the run they made, but most people's minds were made up before the team made the run (including mine). They waited for a coach that was getting ready to be fired to play their best ball. That wasn't going to work next year.

Good riddance Martin. All that bullsh*t about how much you loved the program and the guys was typical coach speak. Every single coach is a lying sack of sh*t. They just display it differently.

If there was high probability of a divorce next year, it's best to get it over with so both parties can move on. I don't blame Conzo. He just saw the handwriting on the wall and saw an opportunity to land on his feet.

Conzo is gonzo!

Guys this is win win. Win for Zo and 3 more years to prove he can't coach up players . Win for UT Basketball because Zo has to pay us to leave. We might take a step back but that was going to happen anyway . Has anyone ever thought about the correlation between Basketball getting better and Football getting worse . Just a thought .

Someone should show these players and coach just how bad the basketball was before the petition. My god, it wasn't watchable at times it was so bad. Stokes isn't a saint either.

Agreed, I'm thinking Hart offered a very nominal raise and just a year or two extension (because he sort of had to)and essentially forced Martins hand in searching for new employment...as it was most likely an unacceptable deal to he and his agent...

Obviously it works well for us because we get that new start you spoke of Spartacavolus and Martin probably got a nice raise and a fresh start, but the downside for him he's going to a significantly better basketball conference and coaching at a very tough academic institution...

Guess we'll now TRULY find out how good of a coach and recruiter ole Cuonzo is...

Who the fn cares? We got a great football coach and baseball coach. Things are turning around. And now we have at least a chance to get a great basketball coach.

So wrong.

Meant it more from an AD angle. But it is still true, from kiffin leaving in the middle of the night, three straight losing records in football, to the Bruce situation and then not going after Bruce and now counzo leaving, if you don't think ppl are laughing at us you're delusional.

Sucks but it is what it is right now. I firmly believe that Butch will get things turned around on the football front but this is devastating to our basketball program.

CCM was as dead as road kill until Teneesee's fortuitous run the the NCAA. Let's not kid ourselves, this guy's not Shaka Smart he's more like Sidney Lowe. His Kiffinesque move did the Vol nation a huge favor. This program may be down for a couple more years but I'm sure the next HC will be able to find PG's who could move the ball and SG's who could make a three more than 20% of the time. The guy who just left couldn't and will help Cal make the NIT annually.

I want to thank The University Of Tennessee and the fans for your support unfortunately I announce my de-commitment from Tennessee

This is pure Kiffin/Orgeron behavior. This is FU Tennessee from Cuonzo. Its time to close ranks at TENNESSEE.

kind of glad he's gone. lets not forget how up and down his teams have played the last 3 years. ut had a lot of bad losses that should have been easy wins, and i don't care what anyone says about the end of this years season, when we played a good quality um team we lost. we would've lost earlier if duke wasn't upset. he was a huge downgrade from pearl, and a terrible hire.

Least tragic loss of a coach in UT history. Later brah. Let's get someone who we can be excited about again.

Looks like Cuonzo lied after the Marquette ordeal. It appears his heart was not at TN as he stated. This is another blindside similar to Kiffin.

That's not what the numbers say actually. We were a top ten team all year. We lost some close games. We got unlucky. Bad teams did not run us out of the gym. We lost a helluva coach. The fans lost a helluva coach. We beat UVA by 35.

You are delusional. Martin was and never will be a great coach. We beat UVA on a night that we couldn't miss and they couldn't throw the ball into the ocean. Glad he's gone.

It's already more than Marshall makes. We'd have to offer more but I don't think Marshall won't listen.

Oh he will definitely listen. My guess is that he'll listen in order to get a raise out of this. Enough to keep him at WSU. He'll have another good team next year. Surely after another season of success he could get a job better than UT.

I don't think he lied. People are as loyal as their options.

Best thing that could have happened really. I'm surprised he skipped town without speaking to the players. Really doessent mesh with everything we've heard about him.

What would really shock me is if any players came out against Martin...even Dooley had vocal supporters.

And judging how we looked earlier in the year it looks like Martins departure set us back literally 10s of days...well be fine...provided our AD can do its job.
