Breaking Bad on amc

I read it earlier yesterday, and thought it was an interesting take on the series. It seemed to make sense, but after listening to the podcast (which I did after Scotty's post), I obviously agree that Gilligan did not intend for the finale to be interpreted that way.

That being said, I still believe the theory is an interesting, yet complex perspective of the finale that holds my curiosity. That is all. Not trying to push what I believe about BB on anyone.
Oh, it's certainly interesting. I'm just glad, personally, Gilligan didn't try to get cute with the ending. It hit all the right notes IMO.

It does seem that to dismiss the theory entirely would also be a mistake, in that, several other websites are now picking up the story.

Breaking Down the Alternate Theories About the End of 'Breaking Bad' - Esther Zuckerman - The Atlantic Wire

The Atlantic wire goes into detail about the "Walt was already dead" theory; Emily Nussbaun and Norm Macdonald seem to agree.
Random websites writing about the theory gives it zero weight, though. The only analysis that really matters is Gilligan's, and I just don't think he left it open to much interpretation.

Utimately, it is only Gilligan that matters. The New Yorker, however, is a pretty legitimate print source. Interesting to see their TV editor float such a theory.

Fun to read and debate, sure, but little more than baseless conjecture without Gilligan's input.

Bottom line is Gilligan squashed the theory before it was even a theory. If fans want to create alternate versions in their heads of what actually happened, more power to them, I suppose.

It's not a mistake if the guy that wrote the ending says it's bullcrap.

Plus again, nevermind that Gilligan already debunked all that, but to believe this theory would mean we were shown flashforwards of things that were happening in Walt's mind; that makes no sense at all.

It's a theory I found interesting. That's all. Not all posts on a message board are intended to start an argument, although many of you seem to think they are.

Well, it would be one thing if you just posted it for discussion, but you went as far as saying you believed the theory might be true; plus even after it was pointed out that Gilligan himself debunked it all, you still seemed to push the theory as legit.

So really I'm sorry if you saw it as an argument, but you kind of took it there first.

Certainly didn't intend to sound argumentative. Just seemed you insisted on it being considered a legitimate possible ending based on the online reports. All I'm saying is, while those can be fun to read, we know for a fact those assertions (such as the New Yorker column) are incorrect.

If you painted your house blue, and someone was curious as to why you painted it blue, should they ask you that question, or the neighbor down the street? The person responsible for the decision is the only person qualified to answer, and that answer is definitive.

So, I thought of something driving home from a wedding today.

What the hell are those cops thinking as they show up to find Walt's body and tons of Nazis? Surely they know Walt did it by being in a different room. But what do you do when you find a robot machine gun going off in the trunk of a beat up car? Doesn't this just add to his legend and immortality as Heisenburg even more?

Didn't Jesse drive off in that car?

very interesting... makes some good points that I didn't recognize initially.

They'll wonder why he shot himself. His fingerprints will be in the car as well as the trunk and all the machine gun. They'll match up the bullet in his side with the gun in the trunk.

Yeah that would be wild. That would be quite a report to write up.

I also wonder what happens to Jesse. I mean it's great he got out but he's been missing for a while now and is the only one left alive that had any involvement (besides Saul who's gone and Huell and Kuby), and he's the only one left who witnessed Hank and Gomez' deaths. Plus he witnessed Andrea's murder.

I was glad Jesse was freed, but it's hard to imagine a scenario where he can just walk away. He was way too tied into everything to get out that easy.

Pretty much everyone who knew of Jesse's involvement is dead. He talked about going to Alaska. In my mind that's where he went to start over.

True, but there's still Jesse's confession DVD in the room with the Nazis. Hard to believe they won't find that if it wasn't destroyed by the M60.

It was mentioned, I think by Marie, that the authorities were looking for Jesse. Anyone who could implicate him in any wrong doing is pretty much dead, but Marie knows he was working with Hank and Gomez.

I don't think they could charge him with anything, but they definitely would hold him for questioning for a long time.

Being that he hasn't been seen in months since he's been in todd's dungeon, if the police see the dvd he made with hank, they'll probably assume Jack's guys killed him for ratting Todd out.
