Bray Wants To Be 225 Next Year

He won't put on 25 of pure muscle to get to 225, even if he is in fact 200 now. His body type just can't synthesize that much protein into muscle without steroids in the time between end of season and summer camp.

He could put on 5 - 10 of fat and the rest muscle. On his frame, that 5 - 10 of fat would be be perfectly OK going into summer camp. For him it would helpful to keep his body from consuming muscle. His Junior year, he could be a soild 225, and maybe higher senior year.

Get Barry Bonds on the phone, we can get him that 25 pounds in a few months. Might be a little zitty and water bloated.

”I have been assured by a very knowing American of my acquaintance in London, that a young healthy child well nursed is at a year old a most delicious, nourishing, and wholesome food, whether stewed, roasted, baked, or boiled ...”

Swift approves.

Honestly his weight doesn't scare me as much after seeing the USCe game. He looks to be a pretty good load to take down at 6'6.

I agree. In fact, I'd be worried that too much weight too quickly could affect his natural abilities. Weights and strength training are important, but as long as they don't take away from reps on the field and time in the film room. Football will always be a thinking man's game!

Hmmm, would I be considered a small child? :naughty:

If you're considered a small child, I guess I'm considered a pedophile then. Time to go to the psychiatrist, again...

As far as Bray, the freshman 30 will catch up to him in the spring semester. At least, that's when it caught up to me..

Do you guys think there's a chance, young Tyler may be the best Qb in the S.E.C next year? Well, saying newton@mallet go to the league of course...

All he's got to do is try for an intake of about 500 grams of protein a day and hit the weight room twice a day he'll get there fast.

Without steroids, that doesn't work past the initial few months of training - something he is well passed having been in a S&C at least since last December, and probably since high school.

There is an upper limit on the amount of protein the body can convert to muscle per day, which varies by body type. As skinny as he naturally is, his upper limit is relatively low for an athlete.

Any excess is partially passed and partially turned to fat. The body is much more reluctant to make muscle mass beyond an initial bump than most people think, and muscle mass is much more efficent per gram of weight than most people think.

so tell me.... is the muscle he will be adding be fast twitch?
What about the muscle consumed? I assume the fast twitch muscles are too fast to be easliy consumed.

Now lets talk about the VolHottie's fast twitch....

Honestly...I'd like to see him hit 220-225...but as long as he keeps throwing 5TD's a half I don't care...

Those of you saying he was never 210 and he isn't 200 now...

1) It's difficult for a naturally thin person to maintain or gain weight during the football season...and very easy for them to lose it...he could have easily lost 10lbs over the course of the season...

AND

2.) If he's not 200 now then he was about 170 during the spring because even at this point he's significantly bigger...especially in the legs...than he was during the spring

So do the players get fed a certain diet according to thier nutritional needs? How do they monitor what food they eat? Just curious how this all works for college athletes. I know the pros have thier own chefs.

I have also heard a comparison to Brays bodytype to Manning. I dont recall Manning being this thin, even when he was a freshman. I think Bray is thinner than Manning, when Manning was a freshman.

I'm not 100% sure, but I'll bet when the football players walk into their own personal dining hall they have specially prepared meals depending on who they are or what they need to do (lose fat, gain muscle, just gain weight, stay at current weight, ect). Beenie probably watches this very closely to make sure they get the nutrition they need and adjusts it accordingly. They know what they eat since this is where they eat their meals. Now, they can always steer away from this during the day but that's up the the player and how well they want to prepare their bodies for a potential career in football and make millions.

Manning was 6'5" 190lbs as a freshman

Bray is 6'6" 200ish...

Very similar

I thought I read a Austin Ward tweet prior to the Memphis game saying Bray was about 190 dripping wet...

No way he is 210 or could even get to 225 next year.
