Bray and thumb

I've noticed this as well. Its pretty evident when we are going to run the ball.

Disagree totally...

Arnett couldn't see the field early, even as a #3 and now he's arguably our #2...Jackson has overtaken Stone, has been killing people lately and is likely a mainstay on the OL for the rest of his career...Lanier couldn't beat out Teague early and now he's a starter...Moore has gone from the pine to starting at the nickel...Worley's mechanics have completely changed, he now has a legit arm...Waggner couldn't tackle air now he's a legit tackler...Carson went from out of shape to a contributor...Couch went from out of shape to a starter and future star...Walls couldn't sniff the QB early now he's getting legit pressure...Coleman couldn't cover Montanas WR's now he's made his way back to the starting lineup...Brian Randolph, enough said...Devrin Young and our return game, enough said...

The progress is there...the problem is it's hard for some people to see it when it's not accompanied by wins

I've noticed those same personnel adjustments.
However I think those changes should have been made earlier, after fall practice and the first game.

Also this staff doesn't get freshmen ready to play as quick as they are needed.
That was a complaint with Fulmer, he waited till half the season is over before a lot of the freshmen get significant playing time.
This staff tends to do the same.
For example, Arnett should have been ready when Hunter went down to step into that role as the #2 WR instead of Z Rogers.

This is what has pissed me off the most this year. It was so easy to shift and shut us down after losing Hunter.

The blueprint was made and everyone since has perfected it.

I really think with Hunter, Bray and Rogers in the lineup this offense is a lot more potent and will impose their will on a defense if they try to stop the pass. They will just take 8 yards gains all day long on the ground.

You put 7-8 in the box and you get torched by Bray.

Barring injuries next year's offense will be able to score on anyone and often.

I agree completely. Obviously there have been other issues on the season but if you could find some players across the country that were needed by their team it would be hard to not count Hunter and Bray near the top. Especially when viewing our strength of schedule.

We all know the expectations we have for UT football. We expect to be in the SEC championship game every couple of years and are owned by nobody. Even though most reasonable heads around here expected 8-4 through 6-6 records, the frustration of a long season wear thin and we lose sight of why we are where we are, even though it is well documented.

What areas of improvement have you expected to see that you haven't? I would say running game/offensive line play, and kicking game. I would echo what Thunder has said in terms of improvement and would chalk up a lot of disaster to our injuries and Janzen's dismissal.

losing jansen hurt alot. the kid wasnt far from being on eric berrys level. i know people dont wanna hear that.

arnett had alot on his plate, they were force feeding him info so to speak. had to scale it back some after hunter went down. one thing noone should question is how our wr's are being taught/coached, imo we have one of the if not the best in the business at coaching the wideouts.

He and hunter were the 2 most dynamic playmakers outside of Bray for both sides of the ball. Losing them certainly didn't help with a roster devoid of playmakers.

Wait, are you seriously about to go after Charlie Baggett?

No, but does anyone here think Z Rogers is better then Arnett?
Arnett I think was a 5 star prospect, to me he should have been one of the top 3 or 4 players coming in that you want ready to play.
Not having anyone opposite D Rogers hurt the team.

Thanks he's only 12th on the team in tackles and 2nd in int's with 2. I would have thought he would have lit that league up.

more than likely the opposing team schemes away from janzen all week. i dont know that to be fact, have not kept up with his team.

You either scheme away from Jackson and against the other side of the field or you attack Jackson and pretty much light your own funeral pyre.

For instance... see Nmandi Asomugha after 2006.

Thats a good point, if he's playing CB he's probably got their best WR and probably shut him down.

When you have had a recruiting class with the same coordinators for 4 years, they then should have a complete grasp. The next group will pick it up quicker, because the upperclasmen will know what is going on and can teach them. Now, everybody is in learning mode, and it goes slower. We have to teach everyone. When the system is in place, the youth can progress without being thrown into the fire. Getting this thing started is the hardest part, after that, it is plug and play.

Arnett wasn't a 5 star, but he was a high 4 star. I don't think the coaches feel like Rogers is better than Arnett; it just happens that Arnett had been playing the slot and knew the slot. It was an easier transition to move Rogers opposite D. Rogers because he knew the system better. Just my opinion.

i think that's right. Arnett was recruited mainly as the slot, hence i would imagine he'd have less time practicing running post routes. he is a true freshman after all.

He was a 4star and didn't arrive in Knoxville until summer. If he was an EE he would have likely been playing much sooner.
