I just find the predictable "actually this kid sucked and we didn't want him" posts as tiresome as the world is ending posts. This is a 4 star recruit who most were very excited to get who is now not coming. No, it's not the end of the world, but it's not nothing either.

I actually don't see much of this type of statement in this post. It is actually an attempt by some to find out why, with a very good set of potential answers to that question. The coaching staff has made it clear that they will not tolerate slacking off, even before they make it to school. It is noteworthy, but not earth-shattering.

This appears to be the issue, not the 85.

Once Tennessee took Brandon Kennedy as a grad transfer, they didn't have room for him under the 25 new counters in a calendar year rule (that's different than the 25 signee rule), so this was only a matter of time.

He wasn’t going to contribute this year and really didn’t fit their model for a DL. Pruitt honored his commitment...on signing day, but he was already well behind lower rated recruit Kingston Harris and I don’t see him beating out WHOEVER Pruitt lands in 19. All that being said, IF he was fine academically and the staff let him wither and fall because they basically OVERSIGNED in the offseason? Low rent imo and the first ugly look in this era.

True, and iirc Lawless seemed befuddled by the whole situation when he wasn’t allowed to enroll earlier in the summer...

It seems he got played...but, we don’t know for a fact. Agree, it’s a bad look, if so..

His on field performance dropped, that's just reality.

Pruitt could've saved a spot but decided it was better used elsewhere.

Minus the grade issues I believe Lawless would be on the team right now. He still could have opted to enroll next January if he really wanted to be here.

Lawless wanted to be at UT.
Pruitt had the option to hold his scholarship or recruit someone else in his place. He recruited someone else. I'm neither happy or upset, it just happened.

But if my wife ever chooses another man over me, I'm going with "she lost me" 😂

I would hope we all agree this will be a transition year and CJP has a plan he is executing on. Very few individual players will make or break a team so this, by itself, isn't concerning unless it starts a trend. We just had the ability to fill the slot with an equal or better player.

Unlike the CBJ days there seems to be a very tangible reason for him moving on and it wasn't anything UT did/didn't do. We are fine and getting close to football time in Tennessee!
