I have an idea. Let's have 12 threads. That should cover enough material that posting a new thread would be redundant and out of line. Big Brother says that 12 threads are doublegood.

Warren won't officially be on the team until his threads outnumber the black jersey threads.

I am hearing conflicting opinions on him needing an appeal. I was always under the impression FSU denied his appeal and that he will have to appeal the NCAA to be able to play this upcoming season. But now I am seeing reports that FSU eventually granted his appeal and released him. What is the official report on that?

His appeal that he won was to get him released from FSU. Once he gets enrolled at UT then the school will have to file an appeal to the NCAA for a waiver so he can play this year without sitting out a year. He must be enrolled first and the appeal has to be filed by UT.

Right. Had FSU not released him he would have been sitting for 2 years.

I think he has a strong case to go on and play considering he technically sat a year at pelissipi anyways.... great news i definately thought we'd be waiting a while on brandon

Yes, I am also thrilled about this news. I wasn't sure he would even get there. If he can actually start classes on June 2nd then he has won half the battle. Then we can just cross our fingers and hope the NCAA will get with it and find the one year waiver appeal in his favor.... :crossfingers:

Am I wrong in thinking that he didn't play last year? Wouldn't that be the year he sat out?

Its a litt'le sad that we have to cross our fingers and hope the NCAA (an organization that says it has the student-athlete's best interest in mind) will do the right thing....

Asking about this is pointless. I dont think anybody really knows the answer. Some people say NCAA has to grant appeal. Some people say NCAA has nothing to do with it now. Guess I'll just wait on an actual article on volquest.

Here is your answer. I have posted this before, but there still seems to be confusion. Notice it says he has to be enrolled at UT first then the school will have to file an appeal with the NCAA for him to receive a waiver of the mandatory one-year penalty for athletes who transfer within Division I-A.
The appeal he won released him from his letter of intent with Florida State and kept him from losing a year of eligibility after withdrawing from Florida State in February before finishing the year in residency mandated by the letter of intent program.

Warren wins appeal, intends to enroll at UT : Football : GoVolsXtra.com

I would think the NCAA would take into consideration his year at Pellissippi when considering his year sat out. Plus, with both the situation with his mother and now his brother getting a broken neck in March, he has a very strong case for family and medical hardship (which is probably why FSU released him this time.)
