Recruiting can be different when you are the Head Coach vs Position...

Recruiting for Michigan is a bit easier in the Mid West than recruiting for Tennessee in the South. Only serious competitors with Michigan is Ohio State and possibly Michigan State and Notre Dame.
We have 5-7 major schools who we directly compete with (FL, GA, Bama, LSU, Auburn, USCe, Clemson, FSU). Big difference. Plus our home state is not the same as the state of Michigan. He will find it tough here in the South.
You can add these schools to your list:
FIU- Butch Davis
FAU- Lane
USF- Strong
UCF- Frost
As these smaller schools get more established it's only going to make recruiting the state of FL that much more difficult.
Michigan had 11 guys drafted and put 8 free agents on teams. These were all Hoke recruits. Makes him the best Recruiter in Michigan's history.
Welcome to The Hill, Coach Hoke.

Here is a Master Debate question:
Should we be thrilled with all of the talent that Hoke got to Michigan or a bit worried that it took another coach to develop that talent into a squad that wasn't historically bad by Michigan standards?
My opinion - Good position coach, was WAY out of his element as head coach.
The only draw they have is playing time and a way to the NFL. If a recruit wants to compete for a NC they won't go to any non power 5 school.
Based on what I see in college football today. few have a interest in getting a NC. Most are all about doing their time in school and getting on to the NFL. Sad but true.
Look at the us here. Few complete their 4 year eligibility except for those that have no NFL chance. Most 4 and 5 star recruits do 3 years and out.
