#BoycottNRA

Anything short of a straight up 2a repeal is a waste of time to actually impact the number of legal firearms in circulation. However I feel pretty confident no Dim actually wants to commit political suicide.

The gun advocates are fairly quiet in this since most expect these people to cry themselves out and move on. If an actual 2a repeal gets tabled all the gloves will come off.

A repeal of the 2nd Amendment wouldn't necessarily mean that we'd come and grab your guns. All it means is that your right to own guns would be on equal footing with your right to have other things with no specific constitutional protection (cars, boats, etc).

It always amuses me when the party who claims to be for minorities, wants to put our rights to a vote. Clearly they’ve learned nothing

Good luck with that

Speaking of... can we agree to a confiscation of firearms from black men in gangs aged 15-35?

So honestly. Did you type that with a straight face? Just curious.

That would be the legal effect of repealing the 2nd Amendment. The federal government would probably set some baseline for regulation, and then states could be more restrictive if they so chose.

I will bet you money a 2a repeal doesn’t happen in our lifetimes. A serious push by any Democrats outside of CA would be career suicide. And even without the NRA the Replulican base doesn’t want it. And even it you by some miracle got it thru Congress the super majority ratification required by states (I think that is the bar. Its not a simple majority) would kill it. The American coasts might be blue but the whole inner area is fairly red.

I’m not gonna lose any sleep over it just yet.

Edit: so I checked. State ratification level is three fourths majority. That’s 38 states. And a two thirds majority in both houses of Congress. Nah not gonna worry.

And even that bastion of unbiased media reporting, CNN, seems to agree! Well one of their op-eds does but it doesn’t get published without clearing politburo review does it?

There's not a 'snowflake's chance in hell' of repealing the Second Amendment - CNNPolitics

So wealthy people have them and poor people don't.

Not a great move.

You will see a large drop in the number of homicides, or maybe an increase when you go to confiscate them.

I've been considering this notion that something/anything must be done to mitigate death from gun violence. Seems like the biggest bang for the buck (pardon the pun) is to confiscate guns from inner city gang members.

Then they’ll steal guns from legal gun owners, commit crimes with them and laugh while LG prosecutes the people whose guns were stolen.

You're saying that even if confiscated and vigorously enforced the gang members would find more guns?
