Boycott ABC, ESPN & All Disney Products and Properties

I find it interesting, those crying the most over standards being enforced over public airwaves were those cheering the loudest when Alex Jones was bankrupted in a ridiculous show trial.

Keep on working on that ESL Senor... you're making marginal progress!

the funny part of the joke is that Kimmel does exactly what he's complaining about - he's trying to characterize the shooter as not one of his group and he's trying to score political points by including this in the set up.
^^^ This ^^^

Wait, Kimmel has to make a donation to TPUSA to get his show back? He didn't even make fun of CK. This is crazy. They just wanna end the show. He should sue Disney and go podcast or retire or whatever

The joke was about Trump, not CK.

Remember when we were told they would legalize comedy?
calling the Jimmy Kimmel show comedy is a huge stretch.

...

What did happen was the FCC stomped on ABC's affiliates and threatened horrible consequences if ABC didn't punish Jimmy.
I haven't seen any causal connection given for the FCC making the affiliates pull the show. Can you help a brother out and post some?

Provide a link to where ANYONE from ABC or Disney says that Jimmy was fired because of his show's ratings.

You can't because it never happened.

Not supported by the timeline.

You also have not provided a link from the ABC affiliates that says JK suspended/ fired by threat of horrible consequences by FCC.

Sinclair made their decision prior to Carr making his comments, how does that jive with your theory?
Were they not already in discussion with the FCC and Carr about the merger before all this happened? It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out if they didn’t suspend Kimmel, it wouldn’t exactly curry favor with the FCC.

I voted for Trump each time, and if I had to go back and vote again, I would still vote for him each time and wouldn't think twice about it. I definitely disagree with him here. As long as the government isn't subsidizing these networks then they can do what they want. They can make or lose as much money as they want, employ who they want. The market will decide, and the market decided on Kimmel long ago. Happy?
Yep. Glad that one had the courage to step up.

Agree. It doesnt take a rocket science. It takes a theorist.

This type of motive was posted by others a couple days ago. Speculation then. I skimmed your link. Kimmel punishment and the merger was not connected.

Where are you getting that the things are not connected?

Your link. It is dated Aug 21. 3 weeks before the recent hullabaloo.

It says they are not connected?

I see now you are saying the article doesn't make the claim that they are connected. Very astute of you to glom onto that fact, but I have one question...how could it connect the two things without a time machine?

They announced a merger. It's not complete. It's not approved by the FCC yet.

I do not think that the FCC should have gotten involved. I do, however, believe that it is within ABC's rights to terminate Jimmy Kimmel's employment with them if they want to. The government should not be in the business of making companies hire and fire individuals.

This is a similar sentiment I had with the mandating of COVID shots. The government shouldn't have mandated them either.

What does "there it is" mean? Your initial post.

The article also states djt is for deregulation, carr is for deregulation, and the co has been consoliding for 2 decades.

Yes? And? Do you have any supporting documentation that the FCC have made JK demands with the merger decision dependent?

Or is this a conspiracy theory? You get an inside tract to Q-Anon or something?

I may have missed it, but has the FCC been shown to have made a demand per JK?

And the FCC, by definition, exists to get involved in broadcasting over public(ly owned) airwaves.

From link:
If the transaction is approved, Nexstar will pay $22 in cash for each share of Tegna’s outstanding stock. And the regulatory greenlight could be likely under President Donald Trump’s administration, which has long-advocated for loosening industry restrictions

......Other experts note that previous consolidation in the industry has already shown this.

Nexstar, founded in 1996, has itself grow substantially with acquisitions over the latest two decades, becoming the biggest operator of local TV stations in the U.S. after it purchased Tribune Media back in 2019.

.....The potential purchase also arrives amid wider regulatory shifts. Brendan Carr, the Trump-appointed chairman the Federal Communications Commission, which will need to give the transaction the green light, has long advocated for loosening industry restrictions. On Aug. 7, the FCC announcedhttps://www.fcc.gov/document/fcc-delete-98-outdated-broadcast-rules-and-requirements that it would be repealing 98 broadcast rules and requirements that it identified as “obsolete, outdated, or unnecessary.”
