A wise man once told me that some people simply can’t stand prosperity .Imagine your kid literally making millions and getting a free education to play college football at one of the biggest stadiums and most prestigious programs in the country where they will get tons of NFL brand exposure and you totally wreck it for them. I wouldn't be able to live with myself.
What? He won't even speak directly with his coach? Yeah, I smell the stink of an agent trying to dictate terms. Enough of this. Cut him loose. If Heupel gives in on this, he's cutting his own throat with his roster and a lot of this fan base. This is completely insaneThe War Room today confirmed he went to California and has been talking to the coaches through a "third party" intermediary.
Funny thing is, I don’t think people are “haters” just because the game they grew up loving is slipping away.A wise man once told me that some people simply can’t stand prosperity .
The NCAA didn't try to modernize football. The NCAA fought the Alston case all the way to the Supreme Court where they lost 9-0 and were told the entire business model of "student athletes" was essentially in violation of Antitrust Law.The NCAA tried to modernize the sport, but in doing so, they’ve made it almost unrecognizable to those who were all in before NIL.
Again we don’t know what’s true and what’s BS. But I think Heupel doesn’t have a high tolerance for this. He had to put up with it with Nico until he sort of hung himself out to dry bc of the money a lot of people put into getting Nico here and bc Nico was supposed to be the face of the program. Boo is probably one of the brightest young stars on defense but he’s going to put up with less crap with him likely. What? He won't even speak directly with his coach? Modernizing pertaining to additional transfer windows, no limitation to the amount of times you can transfer, etc.. I wasn't stating that NIL was the modernization, sorry I was unclear. The NCAA didn't try to modernize football. After that, they allowed NIL because they had no choice. THEN schools, including UT, took every single opportunity to sue the NCAA to keep them from enforcing NIL rules, transfer rules, etc.
The NCAA got pushed directly into a corner because they knew any give in to paying players or allowing NIL would open up a steady stream of lawsuits, which it did, by schools and players to destroy college athletics.
The NCAA got SUED, and UT joined the lawsuit, to force multiple transfers with no penalty. They did none of the "modernization" of transfers without being forced.Modernizing pertaining to additional transfer windows, no limitation to the amount of times you can transfer, etc.. LOL.You have to reference something from over a decade ago that I’m not even sure is a correct recollection. Again, you’re attacking a caricature. Sure, If you’re on the radio 3 hours a day, 5 days a week, you’re probably going to have a few bad takes. Define frequent? To make that claim means you’re a regular listener and keeping a tracker.
The NCAA could have avoided all of this if they just made athletes employees when it became clear you were going to have to pay them, rather than outsourcing paying players to third parties. It's greed that will bring about the fall of this great sport we all used to love. The hubris of the ones profiting off of the enterprise. And this revenue share isn't enough of a correction to make any meaningful difference.Funny thing is, I don’t think people are “haters” just because the game they grew up loving is slipping away.
What we’re seeing now reminds me a lot of streaming services. At first, Netflix seemed like a great add-on to cable. Then came Hulu, YouTube, ESPN+, Apple TV—each one necessary just to keep up with your favorite shows or teams. Now, people are looking back and wishing it was all just one package again. Simple.
Paying the players? Sure, it’s a step forward in some ways. But what’s the cost? Fractured locker rooms. Lost loyalty. A rise in “me first” mindsets. College football starting to feel like free agency without rules. And fans—real, lifelong fans—are tuning out.
