Boo Carter rumors from Basilio

Looks like Boo has pissed off teammates by missing workouts. Tony said they don't want a repeat of James Pearce last year. I won't be shocked is Huep don't suspend him and maybe even kick him off the team. It would suck hard but you cant have a cancer in the locker room I don't care how talented he is.

It would…down the road…present an opportunity for Hood/ Gibson and McCoy to all play together.

I wouldn't put any stock into what Basilio said seeing as though he pulled his 'sources' from a message board post. Here's where Hubbs stands

1. There are rumblings that he has missed some things the last little bit with his team. Now, I don't know for sure that he has and if he has why and if they were in anyway excused.

2. There has been a rumor of some issue with him in Chattanooga and I haven't heard anything concrete on that.

So you have two separate rumor deals here.

What comes of any of it is anyone's guess right now if anything at all.

I know personally one of the teachers at CCS. I asked him about Boo after he left CCS. He said "Boo will be okay if he keeps the right people around him. The problem is, he doesn't, and he listens to the wrong people, and he screwed it up. Mama is a problem too."

I made a prediction that there's no way Boo finishes his career here. I still stand by that. His mom made a fool of herself on here during his recruitment. He is a great athlete. If he stays straight, he will have a great career. But it seems unlikely.

These rumors may be false...but I doubt it from what I have heard about him.

ESPN article says he does not have a degree:

"Retzlaff's transfer is an unconventional one in the mechanics of how it worked. Because of the timing of his decision to leave BYU, he couldn't enter the NCAA transfer portal. (He was just short of his earning his degree.) Instead, he withdrew from school and plans to enroll at Tulane and technically will walk on to the team, per sources. Sources: Ex-BYU QB Retzlaff to transfer to Tulane
Why BYU's handling of Retzlaff's exit matters

BYU could have granted Retzlaff a release, allowing him to enter the portal and pursue a more traditional transfer route. Instead, the school withheld that release, leaving withdrawal as his only option. This move enables Retzlaff to seek opportunities elsewhere but requires bypassing the standard transfer system.

Since Retzlaff is not officially in the transfer portal, teams cannot contact him directly. However, NCAA rules permit programs to communicate with his representatives. Furthermore, because the suspension was related to BYU's honor code -- not NCAA violations or legal rulings -- Retzlaff will not face suspension at another school.

Navigating NCAA rules without the transfer portal

Retzlaff's path is uncommon but within NCAA guidelines. By officially withdrawing from BYU and enrolling at another school, he avoids the transfer portal and its rules. NCAA regulations do not require players to enter the portal to maintain eligibility at a new institution.

If he were using the portal he may have been eligible based on the below

Undergraduate students: The majority of undergraduate student-athletes in Division I may only be entered into the Transfer Portal during the sport-specific transfer window for their sport. A campus compliance administrator will clarify when anundergraduate student-athlete is able to be entered into the Transfer Portal during a particular time of year, including whether any exceptions apply to a student-athlete’s circumstances (e.g., their head coach takes a new job).

» Postgraduate students: Student-athletes who are on track to complete their
undergraduate degree by end of the year (e.g., two semesters)
may be entered into the Transfer Portal at any time between October 1 and the end of the student
athlete's sport-specific transfer window.

Just hope we aren't reading sad news about the kid after his playing days are over...if not before. Kids in this situation have to be facinge incredible peer pressure. Many just can't self correct and pay a steep price. Praying for the kid.
