Boo Carter officially off the team

At NCSU, when you're playing for a 7-5 record, that's a risk you take.

At UT, when you should be playing for a shot at the SECCG and the CFP, you send him packing the very day he doesn't toe the line.

How long do you think Saban would have put up with the drama?

There's a reason why Alabama won so much. Talent was a large part of it, but they all knew where the "line of death" was with Saban.
Exactly...Boo didn't meet the team standards when he turned his back on his team... teammates...coaches, but was allowed to keep wearing the orange. He should have been gone then, months ago. We aren't talking about a DUI....speeding...fight and resisting arrest etc....We are taking about F you to the team...but he was allowed to remain against the wishes of some team leaders. It's one reason we are an undisciplined football team.

Great insight from Bowl Cut Kirby, actually:

“A lot of teams in the country, it’s hard to keep getting better this time of year. You start questioning what I’m doing. I mean, let’s be honest, we’re two months from the portal opening. I mean, there’s kids that are like, I don’t know if I really want to go out here and get better. I’m not talking about Texas now, I’m talking about just in college football. That has not been the approach of our team. They continue to get better. They continue to grow, work hard, believe in each other. It’s a good football team, guys, but you’re a week away from humility.”

I’m reminded of Charlie Munger:

“Cost the company money with an honest mistake, and I will be understanding.

Cost the company a single shred of integrity, and I will be ruthless.”

You can’t compromise on culture, and I’m proud we sent Nico and now Boo packing.

I know (and maybe this indeed the correct take) it has been said over and over again:

Wow / he’s really talented / he has so much talent / talent galore . . . Etc.

But, is that fact? Yes, he looked explosive in high school . . . But even when has seemingly played “full speed” . . . I have seen nothing that screams “super star” to me.

Maybe his talent is elite . . . And all that holds him back is a poor attitude. I just don’t see it. It’s not like he has ever looked like Willie Gault returning punts . . . And his angles on defense have been really bad at times . . . And he is a poor tackler in comparison to elite players on other teams.

I think he maybe was over hyped out of high school?

Never understand what's in a 19 yr old kids mind when he's giving up on a chance to reach the top at something u work so hard for. Football was important to u boo and someone n ur head making money the top priority when if u would have starred at ur home state university for 2 more years the money would rolled in. Feel sad for these kids these days

Sucks to lose someone with his talent but he's not applying that talent.

Also, he could be causing more locker room strife than he delivers on the field.

If you are going to set the bar high, then we can't doing the Limbo dance!

My question is why did it take this long. I have no inside information but little doubt he hurt the team more this year than helped. Were the coaches hoping for a miracle change in attitude? Is it taboo to tell a kid to move on?

Should have moved on prior to the start of this season.
