Boo Carter officially off the team

The past few years we’ve had issues with Jeremy Banks, Nico, and now Boo likely contributing to locker room problems. Does Heupel have an issue waiting too long to deal with these problems before they become more of one?
In defense of Nico, I’m not sure he was a problem among teammates.

The history books no one reads are full of stories about college and pro athletes who squandered phenomenal talent for a variety of reasons. Some burned out; some bailed out; some failed out. Some are no longer with us. It is what it is. The common thread that joins them all seems to be no responsible father figure...bad single-parenting...bad influences...bad decisions...and ultimately bad outcomes.

There but for the grace of God go I. I had high school 2A talent, and great parenting. I was never going to be an athlete at anything beyond 2nd team on a mediocre team level, but found the path I was meant to follow.

While I'm glad from the UT fan POV that Boo is gone, I worry that it won't be long before we read about him again. And not in a positive light.

Cautionary tale. Maybe the next Boo will read it, and heed it.

Interesting viewpoint, and I agree. I think Nico, at heart, has a good heart. But as his time at UT progressed, he fell more and more under the influence of his father. This led to him making some bad decisions then, and since. I think the UT locker room, and the UCLA locker room, was behind him. I also think Nico, remaining under the influence of his megalomaniac father Nic, has now bailed on the UCLA team. That's his 2nd parachute jump in what, 7 months?

I think his P4 time is over. There's always a G5 team desperate enough to take a flyer on talent.

As for the NFL? UDFA. He's gonna have to earn it there.

So Heupel actually waited for him to make another mistake before kicking him off the team? That’s some weak sauce considering how Carter’s played like he couldn’t care less.

No wonder this team Is so soft.
Meh…. He was probably testing Carter’s resolve… knowing he most likely wouldn’t show up. This is no big deal.

At NCSU, when you're playing for a 7-5 record, that's a risk you take.

At UT, when you should be playing for a shot at the SECCG and the CFP, you send him packing the very day he doesn't toe the line.

How long do you think Saban would have put up with the drama?

There's a reason why Alabama won so much. Talent was a large part of it, but they all knew where the "line of death" was with Saban.

As so many players have often said, "Everyone's injured this time of year."

He was healthy enough to dress 2 weeks ago and didn't take any hits.

Serious question…. How long have you been following college football?
I ask because this kind of thing has been going on at almost every major college program as long as I can remember

Wherever Boo goes, I hope he figures it out. Ultimately, we’re the product of our decisions, both good and bad. There’s nothing worse in life than wasted talent. Reality is it’s hard to be a me player in a we sport. The best teams win when EVERYONE is bought in.

On bad teams, nobody leads/on good teams, coaches lead/ on great teams, players lead. It’s getting harder to evaluate character in this era when most are chasing a bag.
