Bone declaring for NBA draft

I think he could improve a little but not much. I’m talking about handling the ball, defensively, shooting, and other things. He seems to have pretty much tapped out his ability. I don’t see much upside remaining but I could be wrong. I think he has less chance of hurting his stock than he does improving it by returning but I don’t see him taking a big step forward from where he is now. I’ll gladly admit I thought the same last year to this year and he proved me wrong.

No you’re 100% correct. Skills and shooting is not the issue with Grant, it’s his physical measurables. Any NBA team can see Grant’s form and FT shooting and they will believe they can turn him into a good shooter from deep. Unless Grant became a 40% shooter taking 6-8/game, teams aren’t going to look at him different. He’s not gonna become a top 15-20 pick by coming back and shooting better. He’s gonna be picked in the 20’s regardless.

Agreed with that but that wasn't your tune earlier. I think the distance he can improve and move up the draft is minimal. Now that minimal improvement might be worth coming back and that's the question

Grants stock doesnt get any higher than it does now. I think Bone could improve his though. Time will tell. If he stays, i hope he makes a ton and reps UT during a long career.

I always expected he would like Ive always expected Williams wont.

We'll be fine without him with Turner and James.

Football and basketball are nowhere near similar when it comes to the draft.

Really? Are you saying a player cannot be a 1st 2 round NBA pick one season and then drop out of the draft the next? Huh?

Jordon Bone's jump shot is NOT GOOD ENOUGH for the NBA and his decision making (IQ) is questionable at times, but nothing wrong with attempting to see where you will get drafted and betting on yourself to succeed.
people said the same thing about josh richardson

I’m gonna go ahead and say it: Grant is going to go pro. He should, not much room to improve his stock. Bone will likely follow suit but he remains the more likely of the two to return.

You know I want both to get good reports from the NBA

I am fine going into next year expecting less and getting more. It's always more fun for me that way anyway

Pons could emerge as the breakout star next year. He has to work on his shooting all summer, but his speed is equal to Bone.

Pons has had 2 full years in the program. If they were going to manage to improve his technique and shooting, I think it would have happened by now. He's an athlete. Will give us some minutes, 5 fouls and maybe some rebounding, but I haven't seen any sign that he's going to be someone who will give us consistent offense.

Didn’t someone say that this particular draft is lacking point guards? If so, can’t blame him. It’s a big loss if he stays in, no way around it.

Actually, Morant from Murray State and Colby White from North Carolina are also declaring so he will have some competition. Also, Harper from Auburn could after his season is over. It really depends on how high up the board he wants to be and how teams value him.

Ja Morant, Coby White, Darius Garland, Ty Jerome, Carsten Edwards, Ky Bowman, Markus Howard, Makai Mason

Not all those guys will declare, necessarily, but the pool could get deep. I tend to think Bone is just acquiring feedback and will likely return unless he shoots up draft boards.

Bone will he lucky to get drafted and is in no way a 1st rounder. Great kid, but has a lot to work on.

Hasn't he actually been in the program a bit over a year and a half. Did he arrive in the spring or over the summer in 2017?
