Bone declaring for NBA draft

Didn't read all the posts. Did any of our resident vol haters try and put a connection between him leaving and Barnes not having players backs during the game?

Bone will be back, imo.

Personally feel he has the potential to be a top-15 pick with an impressive 2019 season.

Hate for him to leave. I really believe that his stock would have went even higher if he came back another year. But best of luck to him and hope that he gets drafted.

Pons has had 2 full years in the program. If they were going to manage to improve his technique and shooting, I think it would have happened by now. He's an athlete. Will give us some minutes, 5 fouls and maybe some rebounding, but I haven't seen any sign that he's going to be someone who will give us consistent offense.

I could be wrong but early in the season he hit some shots, and eventually shot the ball more. Later he couldn’t hit anything, and now I think he is afraid to even shoot the ball unless under/beside the basket. If I am right (which I very well may not be) he will never be able to produce O, unless he gets over that..........even then if he goes into a slump he could be back to square one.

Unlike Turner, when he got in a slump he kept shooting.........and that is the only why to get out of one.

Don’t agree on the speed being equal

I’m not sure on the speed issue; however I can say he certainly does not have the controlled speed that Bone has.........that is for sure. Speed on the bb court won’t get you anywhere, but controlled speed can get you everywhere.

lots of higher ranked guards keep declaring -- how much does a non drafted G League player make ? No way Bone will be drafted his best bet is to return and shoot more 3s

If both Grant Williams and Jordan Bone are gone I think Tennessee wins 18-20 games in 2019-2020 and I think they will be a #7 to #10 Seed in the 2020 NCAA Tournament.

Losing Schofield, Alexander, Bone and Grant leaves one starter....Turner. James may be the second coming of Magic, but he will be a true freshman. Hard to know how long it will take him to get used to the SEC wars and past the inescapable "freshman wall". Given Gaines and Pember aren't ready, that's essentially a class of 1 who will contribute. Fulkerson, Walker, Kent, Burns, Bowden, Jalen. Those 6 guys plus whatever we can round up on the transfer wire. I'm not sure 20 wins is realistic. On top of that, it's more a matter of who you beat rather than a win number. Gotta have the resume in the committees eyes.

I think my expectations are lower. I would satisfied with a winning season, a win in the SECT first round and NIT bid.

I really hope we get Jalen Cone to Knoxville. A quick point guard that can set up his teammates by getting in the lane would add a new dimension to the offense. And he is a guy I think could contribute from day one but likely stick around for 4 years. Sometimes those guys are a detriment on defense but I still hope we can add someone like him.

I pretty much closed the book on Bone after hearing what he said on the day that he announced his departure. He didn't sound at all interested in returning and he will make well into 6 figures overseas if the NBA draft passes on him.

Sounded like he was tired of the grind to me also.

Playing over seas strikes me as more of a grind than playing at UT?
School comes natural to some people.(didn't for me) Balancing books and sports would be a grind for those that struggle with the former. Sports and playtime in your off hours wouldn't seem as much a grind to me. but that's just me.

That's my thought as well. Just sounded like a kid who had enough of school and was ready to get on with his basketball career no matter where that takes him. Wish him all the best.
