Bone declaring for NBA draft

When? When we sucked the first two years? When was the last time a walk on got more than five minutes in a conference game? And Skylar McBee doesn’t count.

Walk ons are there to be there for scout purposes and bodies in practice, be positive on team chemistry, help the team GPA, and maybe film room purposes.

That may be true here but that story at Mich State is awesome and sad all in the same vein.

And that’s because of injury and Goins only was a walk on for one year like McBee. If we are playing walk ons next year we are in deep trouble

Not sure in that. It sounds like Bone just needs to hear he's going tone drafted at all and grant likely wants to be told he's going in the first round to stay in. I'm not sold either is a Lock

Problem is that most second rounders don’t even make the team. Only first rounders get guaranteed contracts.

I hope he is getting good advice.

Oh give me a break. This is what happens with good programs. Bone leaving early gives us an unexpected opening to fill. Either by new recruit or grad transfer. This is a much better situation than what Barnes walked into...

Leave that sky is falling hogwash somewhere else.

Lol I am not one of those people so sorry. However I am a realist.

You lose 2, 4 year guys. Lose your pg (one of the sec’s best), lose the back to back sec player of the year. Then you have the one starter left who is seemingly unhappy right now..........there is NO bright side.

Not sure how you or anyone else think this could be good or there could be a bright side.

Also Barnes walked into a losing season followed by a .500 season. I was hoping for a small Step back and Tennessee could continue to build. If Grant leaves building will be greatly slowed and Tennessee will not be able to capitalize on the past two years like they could have.

Jajuan Smith, probably

Depends on the strength of this years draft class. Weak or strong. Might be best to declare this year, rather than try next year with a different looking class
Plus his stock may fall. Admiral & Alexander gone means different team
Remember how A Foster returned & he was undrafted? Whereas as a junior, he was projected to be drafted
Too big of a risk

Football and basketball are nowhere near similar when it comes to the draft.

I don’t see that at all, but time will tell.

Bone isn’t getting listed on any mock drafts. And, if you aren’t projected in the first round, you are crazy to stay in the draft. Undrafted, even crazier. This isn’t the NFL.

At least Williams is shown in the first round in some mock drafts.
I agree with your take on Bone on being crazy if he stays in with no first round grade.

Why come back and work on your jumper in college when you can go the pros and do that full time? Most teams don’t even care about a big’s three point shooting in college, they look at FT percentage to see if you have good touch

Cause he would work on his Jumper in practice sitting on the bench when he could be practicing against live competition 30-40 minutes a night and actually doing something.

Imagine if Manning had left early. First QB taken in 1997 was Jim Druckenmiller to 49ers at # 23
Would Manning have been in S F????

Not sure what happened with Scotty Hopson. His decision was a disaster
Maybe he got bad advice or maybe his grades were poor and he would be ineligible
He would have benefited by being coached one season with Counzo

Or make basketball a full time job, not have to worry about practice restrictions, and can get plenty of run in the G-League and get paid doing it.

He’s got a better chance to improve his jumper in the pros than in college.

BUT he's got a better chance to make bigger $ if he improves that jumper in college

I think that's the point being made

Yeah, I think for both he and GW, the analysis is easy:

If draft grade is reasonably certain first round, then NBA. If second round or worse, UT.

It should be that clear cut.

Is he going to grow three inches? Improve his wingspan? Became an elite leaper?

Grants issue aren’t skills. If he was 6’10 he would have been one and done. He will be a year older and teams want young guys to work with. He’s already projected in the 20’s. He won’t be lottery pick next year even if he shoots well.

Grant improving his jumper (and we are assuming Barnes let’s him shoot 100 3’s, everything else is SSS) won’t help his stock because most teams believe they can teach a guy to shoot.

No. He would have been with Parcells and the Jets.

You only waste time in G league if you’re chasing money. Grant isn’t that type of person that much is obvious

As to the age issue, Grant is one of the youngest JRs in the country. He won’t turn 21 until November 30th of his senior season.
