Bone declaring for NBA draft

Not really. Like losing bone sucks but our backcourt still has Turner and Bowden and a 5 star guard coming.... I'm happy for Bone to have this opportunity, but it isn't like we have another 3 star coming in at Guard either.

Bone does things nobody on this team is capable of, not to mention his ability to control the pace of a game.

There is nothing after those 3 unless Pons and Johnson take huge steps. Gaines needs a year to develop, I don’t think Pember will be much. Tennessee is going to have to get a grad transfer guard.

Watching that video... he definitely leaves the possibility open for a return, though he seems to be a strong lean toward the draft.

Pons has zero to do with this as he isn't a PG.

And once again, we don't have chopped liver coming in recruiting wise. We have a 5 star guard. Losing Bone sucks, but the world isn't falling. This is what happens when a program is good.

It's not like he won't have that opportunity next year... and with Admiral leaving that a humongous # of possessions and shots to fill, he could be the guy.

Turner would play more PG and Bowden as SG, means someone plays more at the 3

Good luck to him, now it’s Josiah James time now . Could see a fall back year like Villanova had this year .

I bet we look for a grad transfer at PG.

I’m becoming very concerned now. Even with Grant leaving, I’d figure the backcourt would be the best in the conference and we could get enough frontcourt play to be a 6-7-8-9 seed in the tourney next year. Now with Bone gone, Kessler not reclassifying...we could be in some trouble. This program really needs to make the tourney next year. Missing out would undo a lot of good and momentum Barnes has built.

Pons would still be at the 3 coming off the bench and Bowden would split 2/3 time like he did this year.

I'd argue Bowden will see more time at the 3 than he would at the 2. Because our starting backcourt will likely look like Turner, James, Bowden for next year.

Or he could know that Grant may be gone as well and his NBA stock may go down if the team stumbles to a NIT berth. Supposedly, this is one of the weaker draft classes outside the Top 3 in recent memory. That's why the Memphis Grizzlies are trying to convey a Top 10 pick to the Celtics this year instead of next.....

Also, this is what we want as a program. Like it sucks to lose him, but turning our program around usually results in these kind of early departures. Just a testament to Barnes rebuild. Bone was a big part of it and wish him the best. This is an awesome opportunity for him.
Didn't you just post like 5 minutes earlier you don't understand this? LoL

Man.... that’s tough. I hope Grant is not gone as well, that could make next year turn into a really big drop off unfortunately

Yes it actually does because we just lost 35 minutes of a guy who plays PG. Which means 35 minutes a game just opened up on the wing because Turner and James will have to take all the time there. That directly affects Pons and Johnson.

And we have one five star. We’ve had multiple posters who believe that Pember needs a RS and Gaines won’t contribute as a freshman. If we lose Grant, we lose 4 starters and have one freshman coming in expected to get immediate PT.

I guess we'll see what happens. I figured he'd test the waters, but honestly expected him to be back.

I think he's going to show out in workouts and honestly the offense we run doesn't allow him enough freedom to excel at the highest degree imo

His stock? He’s not on any draft boards. He doesn’t have much to lose by returning

I wouldn’t laugh. If Grant leaves, the program will take a huge step back with only three guys coming back that have played consistent minutes in conference. And one of those guys (Fulky) isn’t exactly all conference.

I like Bowden. I love Turner. I don’t like either as the #1 and #2 scoring options.

You would have to count Bowden as a starter coming back imo. He was the guy in the games late anyway

Regardless if this team is going to be a good one Pons or johnson have to improve. That is true with or without Bone or Williams
