Bold Prediction for this weekend

With them losing(what luck) to KY they will be so alert for anything this week against a rival like us. And they Have a back up so they'll play even harder and the crowd will be behind them even more. And Trask is just as good as Franks just different. So look for us to play hard but be overwhelmed by the 3rd quarter. This is worse than if both teams were undefeated. I'm pulling for my Vols but I say 35-21 turds.

No. We're not gonna get the Florida team that showed up against UK. They'll be fired up. You doubt that?

Counterpoint ...

The Gators are playing a team that they don’t view as a rival, who has already lost to Ga State and BYU, coming off of an emotional, energy zapping come from behind victory on the road and come home for a sleepy noon kickoff where they will undoubtedly be double digit favorites against a team that has nothing going for it and zero expectations going forward.

I’m sure they’ll be fired up

Fired up is one way of putting it. But, I think, making sure they aren't a team pointed at by children, laughed at by old ladies, used as the before photo in vitamin ads or wept over by their grandmothers, they'll take care of business.

I take those as compliments.

My bold prediction, Trask gets on the HiesTman ballot after being 23/25 for 435 yards and 4 TD's in the first half. Seriously though.....
UT weakness is OL and DL and QB
FL Strength DL, LB and RB, and was DB, but now they are hurt.

I just don't see this game going good for UT we have no pass rush from the DL. We always seem to make FL backup QB's look like HeisTman candidates and the FL DL is their strength against our weakness OL.

I see us not being able to run, JG can't hit the broadside of a barn and holds the ball to long and the pass rush gets to him. On defense we have no pass rush and FL will try to run the ball.

If we have any turnovers it will be a very long day. Not to be a Debbie Downer but I just see this same recipe happening over and over against SEC opponents. KY pushed FL defensive line around but they may have the third best OL in the SEC this year behind AL, GA .

Unfortunately, Florida has historically been the team that finds a way to win. Tennessee, historically, finds a way to lose. We just need to go out play smart and stay in the game for all four quarters. We'll need a two touchdown lead with less than 10 seconds on the clock.

Fair point, especially the noon start. The stadium will be dead at kickoff.

That said, we’ve had no shortage of coachable moments in every game, so I disagree with the notion that we’ve played well enough not to take any conference opponent seriously.

My prediction is that we play Florida close, but lose. It'll be close enough that we're frustrated that we could've / should've / would've won the game, though. That seems the running theme of this decade, with a few exceptions.

Florida's defense is better than ours right now. JG needs to have a huge game like he did against Auburn last year for us to win. Not saying it can't happen, but we've yet to see JG play anything close to a complete game. He did do OK after an ugly first pass against Chattanooga, but still ... that's Chattanooga ... not an SEC team.

I do think we have the advantage at WR + RB + LBs, but Florida has the advantage on O-line + D-line + maybe DBs. Trask looked good last week as well.

Tenn over the years going back to 1991. Hasnt shown me or anyone that they can beat Florida on a consistent basis even when Florida is down. I say Florida will beat tenn by at least 27 points. Tenn will score late giving false pretense to those fans still hyped up from a stellar win over UTC. CJP is still the same coach who lost by 25 points in many games as well as losing to GST and BYU. guarantano is the same QB who cant relate to the game beyong highschool and transition into an elite sec player. Florifa has all of those tools ready to go. Tenn not so much

The stupidity of this board, encapsulated in one prefatory clause.

I’m grasping at straws here L Dub. Looking for any angle we can get. There is something to be said that the Gators aren’t especially disciplined and it could be easy to read the headlines about how they should crush the Vols.

On the other hand, the Gator game plan should be to come out land a first round haymaker. The longer we stay around, the more game pressure you guys will feel. If there is any history on our side, it’s that we can kind of stay around in these noon kickoffs as big underdogs and pull off an upset. We’ve done that Both on the road and at home over the past decade.
