His talent level just went up from a c- to a b-. Problem is his competition just went from c- to an a+. Cdd is a good coach and he will have us competitive in 2011, but this year, it's like he just walked into a dark alley and is finding he is armed with a knife while several of his attackers have guns..... Really big guns..... Big scary guns.....

I feel like we're probably a B or B+ in terms of the talent jump (maybe more), but we're really inexperienced and super thin in some key positions on the depth chart. You're certainly right about the knife vs gun fight. Frankly, if he equals last seasons record I'll be pleased as long as the next recruiting class helps address some of our depth needs. I'll tell you this much, I never would have dreamed we'd be going into 2010/2011 with 4 QBs on the roster. Wonder who the transfers will be?
And he also went from a d- program to a b+ or a- program. It's not that we don't have talent, we just simply don't have depth. And that just comes with time. I agree with your competition comparison though. BUT, there are no excuses, TIF.
Well, at least other coaches have high opinions of him. Compare that with what all the other coaches were saying about Kiffin and i say we stepped a level up in at least that department. Now, lets go from there....
We are a good program with great facilities, good coaches, money, exposure and great fans. The program doesn't walk on the field and tackle anyone. The product is coaching and recruiting and over the past four years we have been mediocre at best in recruiting as a whole and a freakin disaster at recruiting the lines. This isn't excuses, I expect the coaches to put together a good plan, out coach the other team and our players to play hard, tough and smart, but at the end of the day there is a certain point when a disparity in quality of players is insurmountable, especially with a consistently murderous schedule. This year we are past that point.

This is NOT a CDD recruiting class and we won't see the 1st CDD class until a year from now.
What he was able to accomplish in just 17 days with the turmoil and chaos he walked into was amazing.
The article from Coach Peterson is very clear that he thinks CDD is a GREAT pick and that we got him 1 year before another major football power got him and add our OC and new DC and the other coaches we now have in place and we're going to have a great coaching team and I hope we can keep them all for several years.
Next season with our brutal schedule and lack of depth will be tough but if we win 7 games and get into any kind of bowl game I'll say our coaches and players did a great job.
2 seasons from now is really when we start taking the steps back up the mountain to SEC championships and I believe CDD will get us there.
So does Coach Peterson.

I'm not a homer, but i still firmly believe that we have enough of what it takes to win 6 or 7 games next year. It just annoys me to see so many predicting 4-8 and 5-7 seasons based on nothing more than Dooley's measely three years at La Tech. I mean, i know it's not spectacular, far from it. But coaching isn't something that just happens overnight, three years isn't really long enough to judge a first-time head coach. Some of Tennessee's coaches got off to very slow starts, and some of those same ones went on to eventually win SEC titles. Just saying, at least try to be optimistic. i know we won't be spectacular next year, but i'm not gonna get all doom and gloom about it.
And to the poster i'm responding to, most of this post isn't directed at you. It's just directed at all the "sky is falling" ones.
wilcox is gonna hurt some teams and make them look bad. I'm telling everyone now people gonna be shocked.
While we are at it, what's lulz mean?
