Bob Stoops?

Would he even be interested? That’s my point who really wants to return UT back to UT? Ya know. I’m with you on the proven head coach; he’s definitely proven himself. But yes; I’d take him.

He wanted to coach enough to coach for McMahon but probably not bad enough for the college grind again. Definitely call him and see what he thinks.

It’s never going to happen. I wish it would... I live about 10 minutes from him, dude is the king in Oklahoma. He wanted to get out of coaching and enjoy life. Has a son that plays wr at OU. He’d never take the rebuild on. Last good hire at TN was Majors, I expect another swing and a miss on the hire.

I can’t imagine him coming here. He could probably get a job in a much easier spot then Tennessee right now. This is going to be a problem for us. What elite coach is going to take a chance on this job? I do absolutely think this is one of the best jobs in the country if you get the right guy in here.

I think great coaches, elite winners, are not the type of people to shy away from a challenge. I hope the powers to be at UT understand this and dare to be so bold and pursue the Bob Stoops and Chris Petersens of the world.

The most beautiful girl in school never got asked out. Guys too afraid to approach. When she ended up with me, people were like, "how?" How did that guy get that girl???!!!

We have got to be bold and daring. Don't ever settle again. I don't care how much money, time or effort. Court this person like life depends on it. Buy him flowers, send him chocolate, pursue him like there is no other. Then, when he says no, just remember that's a temporary no and start again tomorrow. Don't stop until we get a restraining order. Lol.

That would be my first overture and would pursue it until he said thanks but no thanks, but I'm not sure we have anybody in the ranks at the university that the top tier talent would listen to such that Tennessee has to rely on the Peyton Mannings, Jimmy Haslams and other representatives to carry the water. Tennessee has been a dysfunctional dumpster fire for so long, the only people willing to listen are the guys interested in a big check if the 3 or 4 years don't go as hoped for and the talent Tennessee needs isn't going to be persuaded by a big payday, particularly now that the NCAA issues are lurking and the messy legal divorce from Pruitt will be fodder for the next several months.

Leadership and recognized accomplishments are calling cards for any successful institution but there isn't a Pat Summit, Johnny Majors, John Ward or other national figure that is the lightening rod for all things Tennessee Vols, we haven't had a governor of Tennessee in the UT alumni ranks in such a long time, we think the brand is strong, but there are so many others that are actually stronger and many that are more appealing right now.

So he comes out of retirement. He could have most any job he wants. He “wants” to coach Tennessee coming off their worst season in our lifetime.......and knowing there will be NCAA sanctions coming?

He’s already rich.......he don’t need, he don’t want, and he ain’t getting this headache.

Let’s at least be reasonable.
Throw $$ at reasonable.
This isn’t reasonable.

Not realistic for Bob either.

He hasn't been on the coaching grind in years. And he lost a lot of big games while at OU...and we want him to come to the SEC and face Saban every year?

Too much catchup he would have to play with no guarantee that any of it would produce wins

Freeze checks all the boxes.

I think he's done. Not sure the fire is there anymore. If you're gonna jump into these shark infested waters, you'd better have a serious fire in your gut. Not sure he has that anymore. "Comfortable" and being a head coach in this league simply do not go well together.

Just my opinion but I really don't think Bob Stoops would be all that successful here. He's a good coach but I think much of his success at Oklahoma was due to right place/right time. He was set up for great success there because of several factors. 1. The Big 12 is a much easier conference to win in and plays a softer schefule. 2. Oklahoma is an extremely easy place to ecruit to, as it's one of the historical "blue bloods" and can pull a lot of Texas talent. 3. He inherited a roster already full of good athletes. I'm not sure if Stoops would be willing to take on the enormous rebuilding job this program is facing.

Stoops is done. OU was ready for a change; Didn't want to lose their OC HC in waiting--- hence the retirement. Yall soon forget.
